BX23
Bought the tractor and 5 days later, it arrived. Got it Saturday at noon, and had 10 hours on it by Sunday night. What a Great machine! Lifts more than I thought it would. I was thinking B7510 for the FEL capacity, but could not justify on my 3/4 acre lot, turns out I did not need it!
I went into a damp area on the property and got it VERY stuck! Spent almost 2 hours getting it out. But between the backhoe and FEL, you can do about anything, and it was very educational. Learned to lift the back of the tractor and move it to the side with the backhoe, and use the FEL to lift the front and push or pull while hitting the gas!
I did discover one method where I was dropping the FEL to vertical and pushing dirt, but then read the manual which stated that was a big No-no, so I won't do that again!

Only thing I need is the grease for the joints. I cannot find the Moly EP grease anywhere. Tried auto parts stores, and Lowes, they only have lithium grease. Does Home Depot carry this stuff?

Going to a stone wall building course this weekend, then let the fun begin!

congrats on the new toy. you will soon wonder how you ever lived without it. Just this past weekend my wife wanted to take some big potted plants and put them in the ground because they were becoming too big for the pots. No problem dear! I'll get the tractor! 20 minutes with the backhoe and all 4 plants were in the
ground.

Happy Kubota-ing.

I speak for most of the guys on this board who can't afford the BX23 who don't appreciate you guys bragging about digging work, lifting your machines by the backhoe and potting plants in 10 minutes.

Your all a bunch of showoffs. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

And I can't wait until I can join you!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good choice /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think that new BX23 owners are skilled to get their new BX stuck in mud. I did the same thing the very same day I got my BX23. I read on TBN that many other owners did the same thing with their new tractor.

Have fun with your backhoe. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've seen it at Walmart, if you have one nearby. Also, try larger autoparts stores.

10 minutes after I bought it I wondered how I ever got along without it. I purchased it to do some work for a few years and sell, but I am rethinking that. I'll just add attachments.

I was going to buy used, but all tractors with backhoes were within 2-4k of what I purchased mine for. When I saw a 1984 JD 790 with 1500 hours for 3 k less the a new BX with warranty and 0%, I was sold.

I tried to get my wife on it the 1st day, but she told me the 1st day was mine! I did get her in it the next day. After 2 hours with the hoe, she was better at it then me (ssh, don't tell her I said that). We were digging up our bottle dump looking for some cool bottles. We are still digging in the 1950 and 1960s, I hope to get back into the 30s and 40s soon as we dig closer to the house.

Sure is fun. But i do need this grease!

Congratulations on the new tractor. You will find many uses for it that you never thought of. Not sure where in MA you are or where you bought the tractor but whichever dealer you bought from should have the grease in stock. I get mine at Chappell Tractor up in Milford NH but they are close to where I work. For a 3/4 acre lot the BX23 is a great fit - I only have 1/2 acre and so far I have been able to pretty much tear the whole thing up with my BX /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Great, now I have backhoe envy. What a domestic dispute another $5000 is gonna be for my 2200.
Can I sleep under your 23 until the fight is over?

I've been somewhat surprised that I get a B7610 stuck more easily than my old 2wd MF253. Operator error I'm sure.
It is gratifing when your operating FEL and BH at the same time getting yourself unstuck.
Good luck w/your BX and have FUN!

I cleared my whole three acres using the toothbar on the bucket in the way you describe. I think the manual is a bit of overkill. If you are carefull and don't ram into things such as large rocks or roots and such, the tractor will lose traction or bog down way before there is damage to the FEL. I have used mine as the workhorse that it is and it has done it's job well. So if you are going at it in a sane fashion, I see no problem using the fel that way. IMHO of course! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
