I think that new BX23 owners are skilled to get their new BX stuck in mud. I did the same thing the very same day I got my BX23. I read on TBN that many other owners did the same thing with their new tractor.

Have fun with your backhoe. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

( 10 minutes after I bought it I wondered how I ever got along without it.

I purchased it to do some work for a few years and sell , but I am rethinking that. I'll just add attachments.

I was going to buy used, but all tractors with backhoes were within 2-4k of what I purchased mine for. When I saw a 1984 JD 790 with 1500 hours for 3 k less the a new BX with warranty and 0%, I was sold.

I tried to get my wife on it the 1st day, but she told me the 1st day was mine! I did get her in it the next day. After 2 hours with the hoe, she was better at it then me (ssh, don't tell her I said that). We were digging up our bottle dump looking for some cool bottles. We are still digging in the 1950 and 1960s, I hope to get back into the 30s and 40s soon as we dig closer to the house.

Sure is fun. But i do need this grease! )

Sell sell sell- R U outa your mind?
There is no way I ever want to go back to the shovel!

I'm right near 100 hrs and have yet to find a dealer that has or will get Super UDT Finally a 4th dealer, some distance further, "says" he has plenty of it. Hopefully this weekend I can do the change. Believe it or not, 2 dealers (owned by same company) ordered it for me but their corporate computer was (as the parts guy discovered) coded to substitute the UDT # for the Super # (resulting in them having more and more UDT in stock and never getting Super). Also, nobody around carries the Chevron substitute. Unfreakingbelievable!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif )

Glad it's not a problem here.
Drove the 3 miles to my dealer Saturday and picked up 12 quarts of SUPER UDT .

then???

Why do you want to chang it now at only 100 hours when you don't have to change it until 300 Hours ????

( WOW! You too, huh!!! You post a lot and I may have missed it, what did you use @ 50 hrs? FYI, I went to a NH dealer this week (close to the office) to get an O/R clutch for my BushHog and they were the nicest folks ... I wouldn't mind using smurfoil next time is it to 'bota spec?

Why not just use the Kubota then you won't have to wonder about this???

Folks think nothing of spending thousands upon thousands of dollars for a tractor then worry about spending a few bucks for fluids and filters.
Amazing.

In my opinion, I want to keep my little BX for the long haul, so why not use what is specified . I find it intriguing that people will buy these very expensive tractors then get all in a dither about the cost of fluids and filters trying to save a buck or 2 a quart or 5 dollars a filter and take a chance of trashing their machine in the process.

I'm like you I'm more concerned with saving the big bucks I've invested in my tractor than I am with saving nickel and dime stuff on filters and fluids.

( It's funny I think some dealers would try to sell you a filter for an old Rambler and Non detergent 20 wt.

Reasons must be:

Stream line parts to save $$
To lazy to stock the correct parts.
Easier to sell what you got first.

My dealer is first rate (Emerich Sales) They have everything I have needed in stock, and at prices very close to Mail order. You should Insist on doing business with the same type of people.

When I wanted Super UDT They asked me (Do you want It in 2.5 gal Jugs or a 5 gal pail its the same price?)
I took the 2.5 gal Jugs easier to pour.

I told my dealer that I have read on TBN about dealers that don't use, recommend, or sell SUDT, and they said WHY???? THAT IS WHAT KUBOTA TELLS THEM TO USE.
) My choice would be the pails. They come in so handy for so many things i find i never have enough 5 gallon buckets on hand.
Just pour half of a pail in a 2.5 gal Jug equals light easy to handle and pour and you get a free 5 gallon bucket that the box stores charge 2 to 4 dollars for.

You know, I went out the first night after my BX23 was delivered and spread gravel on about 100 feet of my driveway. I think it took about half an hour. My first reaction was similar to yours: "I should have done this years ago!". That has to be a common reaction. I have since leveled out part of my yard and dug out some stumps with the BH. Aside from it being alot of fun to do, you can certainly get alot done in a short amount of time. Enjoy your BX23.

I know the feeling; You start on a small project thinking this will give me quite a bit of seat time but the next thing you know you're done.
