Just called my Advanced Auto Parts and it was still $4.99. My local store has 2 on hand and can have all I want by tomorrow at 7am. Purolator part #A42019

Just out of curiosity I called the competitor down the street and they had Fram filters. It was $25.99. Fram part #CAK-256

Trust me, its a quality filter as is Purolator a quality company. Just the way things work from time to time.

I needed batteriers for my diesel for example. Napa, Car Quest, WalMart, Meijer, Auto Zone, & Advanced were all $100 to $120 each. I needed two.

Called Rural King who carries Exxide Batteries and they were $68 each. Same CC amps and specs as all the competitors. Ran into this also with marine batteries. Rural Kind was about 40% cheaper.

Bummer - no Advanced Auto Parts here. Just over-priced NAPA and several under-stocked independents. One of the little drawbacks to living in paradise.:laughing:

I just picked up 3 A42019 filters today at my local Advanced. They had 2 in stock when I called last week and I had them get me another and put them on hold. That will put 8 total on my shelf. Its due for a new filter in 100 hours. I figure these other 7 will last me 2800 hours which is about 20 years at my current use. Of course that can all change with how much dust and dirt I work in but so far every 400 hours has worked good for me on air filter and fuel filter changes.

I change the oil every 50 hours, the injector pump oil every 100 hours(every other oil change)

I change the fuel filter also every 400 hours

I change my aftermarket add on hydraulic filter every 250 hours.

By the way my out the door cost was $16.02 with tax for 3 filters. Figured I should get them before the cost goes up to $30 like the competition.

thanks for the info on the air filter, i stopped by advance auto and bought one, 4.99 and tax. nice filter and its made in the usa.

sorry for the late reply,got my tractor back on Monday,got my wife to drop me off and drove it home in a down pour(RAIN-RAIN)....What can I say,it's only 4 miles to the shop and they wanted to charge me $100 to bring it back:shocked:....So I have been playing ever since I got it home.....But it had several things wrong with it,needed new fuel filter,a part put on the fuel pump and water in the fuel and I had they put new grease in everything just for good measure

Glad you got it up and running right. Bad Diesel fuel can and will cause headaches. Same is true with old gas.

well another update is in order I quess..........
After 4 days of rain,when the ground finally dryed enuf to run my tractor,it started running warm, headed for HOT in a hurry:mur:So I shut her down....Busted the fan belt,no biggy.Well to get the thing back on(new one)I had to pull out the radiator,unhook the air filter hose,swapp back an forth between metric and standard several times.By now the mechianic NEEDS a cold Bud Lite(actually a coulpa of them)....So while I'm sippin my cold suds,I start looking at hoses off the radiator....Hmm think I'll replace them.So since I am still sober and not too cut up from turning wrenchs.....I get to thinking,better have a look at the thermosat..thinking ahead,right:thumbsup:...Quess what,yup no stat,just the top part of a body of one....So back to the tractor gettin place....Quess what,yup it's closed now So I do the manly thing and stomp into da house,pee'od,talk to the Mrs.a minute about it,head to Auto Zone,$43 later,I'm turning wrenches again....By the time I get done cutting up hoses to fit,getter all put back together its darkthirty....By now,I'm totally discusted,didn't get to run my tractor.....So bright an early at 6am,I know I have got the folks next door mad when I fire it off with a roar,ain't life good sometimes....It's been running like a top so far:thumbsup:
