Hi All,
Picked up a BX24 this weekend. I have started to clear about 1/4 acre and also will need to grade my driveway a bit. What is a good fit for the BX24. Any brand or model that works best? Any idea on pricing or good local dealer?
I ran a king Kutter XB series box blade on mine. (48") I bought this one at the local "Big Box" farm supply store on sale for something like $259. Plenty bing and strong enough for a BX.
Av8r3400,
That looks like a great match! I just called up a local dealer and they wanted over $400 for one! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif . When you say "big box" does that mean like a home depot for tractor supplies? We don't have those around here. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
The GBC48 works great on the BX23 - it is a good weight and I have beat on it pretty good a couple of times and it stood up with no problem whatsoever. More weight on a box blade is good - look at the weights and compare before you buy.
I got mine at MB Tractor up in Plaistow NH - if you are on the North Shore this might not be a bad commute for you .
I am on the South Shore and have a BX23. I am looking for a box blade as well to level my .66 acre. As far as I know, no one will rent one, at least without the tractor! Besides, the delivery cost will probably kill cost more than purchase!
I am looking for a used one, but they are hard to find, again, without the tractor.
I bought it at a " Fleet Farm " store. Very popular around here.
You must have something similar. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Jim - I'd agree with the statement that the more weight on a BB is usually better, but having run both on a BX, (Woods vs XB) I'd say you are traction limited (even with R1's). A light weight, full BB will stop a BX in it's tracks. Been there done that. I would not recomend a BB that is over 300# for a BX. (my XB was about 250#)
I have a Lands Pride 48" box blade that I bought new when I bought my BX 4 years ago (The box blade looks new). I found this brand to be super duty (probably a bit overkill even). I've used it on one driveway project that I now maintain with a Landscape rake. I live on Long Island (Huntington) and while it's not that close to Ma. maybe if you find yourself down this way for business or ? you could throw it in a van or truck? I'd let it go for $300.
Dave
Thanks NYTrainer! I'll keep that in mind. I actually have family I visit in Fairfield County CT which isn't too far from you. Do you have any pictures of it?
I am in CT and make my way down to NY fairly often. If Joe BX does not want it, or gets one up his way, I would be interested in the one you are selling, Please post a picture in either case!
