I am looking for a box blade type of attachment, but I want the scarifiers but not the box. Does anyone know where I can get a 4-5ft attachment? I need to tear up some clay based soil but I really do not want it to be smooth. Its for maintanence of a motocross track but I can not find this type of attachment anywhere. Maybe its because I dont know what I am looking for but I have seen them at a few tracks so I know they are out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well - with an appropriately short toplink and the scarifiers at max extension - you can use a boxblade as you describe. With the right touch, only the scarifiers need penetrate. The then disturbed material should pass right under the suspended box. But you want something that will disturb a path that is wider than your tractor (so tire tracks aren't left behind).

Otherwise there's http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/219Jfb01ZHL.jpg
and Amazon.com: King Kutter Angle Frame Disc Harrow - 4 1/2-Ft., Combination, Model# 16-12-C: Home Improvement
and http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/21e3wtKs8BL.jpg
and http://www.powersteeringkit.com/cultivator.jpg
and http://enlow66.com/images/new%20equip/leinbach%20cultivator%20noback8x10_small1.jpg
and so on.

But maybe I should have asked up front. Do you intend to do this maintenance with an actual tractor? Or are you thinking it can be done with an ATV?

Greg thanks. I have a 2535 century so I will be using that. I have thought about a set of Discs but I am not sure it will penetrate the clay unless its wet. It can get really hard and I need something durable and strong enough to dig into it. I dont think a tiller is an option, but I am open to suggestions.

Hey Huckster.......

I lifted this photo off of this forum several months ago. I can't remember who posted it, whoever did, my regards and respect....at least enough to save a copy of it.

This ripper looks pretty aggressive.

Thats exactly what I am looking for. I am going to give the local land pride dealer a call and see if they have one in stock. Do you guys think that it will do a better job than a set of discs on a mostly clay based soil?

I have one of the land pride ones (i see someone beat me to posting it)
it will go down 3 to 6 inches in SERIOUS hardpack (like a driveway), put some weight on it and it will go down all the way (10 to 12inches).
It can stop my 33hp 4wd tractor dead if it's real packed, (just raise it up and hit again from another layer) and deep. Brings up BIG rocks. I go real slow and just let it work.
breaks up the compaction layer without really disturbing the top too much. (you can also add the York rake behind it to smooth things out again)
I use mine in preperation for tilling.
not sure why you want it for a motocross track.

There is other companies that make them. Check around a bit as you may find a better price.
