box blade - repair or replace?

I have an old BoxBlade that came with my property when I bought it 2 years ago. This past Fall, while regrading my road and some ATV trails, the metal bar on the front (where the shanks attach) started to break. Trying to decide if this is repairable, or if I should start shopping for another box blade...

If you got the time and tools I would replace...learn as you go as they say.
Does your local high school have shop class,good project for students to learn.

Time wise I would say it's probably cheaper to replace the whole box blade. But if you have the skills and the welder why not try it. Or take it to a trade school as already mentioned. I wouldn't try to repair the front bar. I would just weld a whole new one in.

Most shops have an hourly rate. I would ask what their easy job minimum cost is, before I told them what needed fixed.

That looks like a gannon box... probably $2-3000 to replace. The repair looks to be 30 min to 2hours, depending on the damage and rust. Most shops are $50-100 per hour.

Probably an easy fix for a weld shop, they'll likely re-weld the break and reinforce it at the back.
