Box blade size for gc1705

I have a GC2610 and a 72" box blade. If I needed to replace it, I would go with a 60".

You will notice a 5 blade when it is fully loaded with dirt. It come to a complete stop. I have pulled both a 5 foot and a 4 foot. If you are moving dry dirt's or gravel, you will be OKAY; however, if you are digging using the rippers, the 5 foot is to much for some types of soil or wet gravel. It is not a D7 dozer. One spoon at a time. I really recommend a good quality 4 foot blade.

I understand what your saying and believe you, but their 54 inch is not a 5 footer, it's 4 and 1/2. I will need to use the teeth fairly aggressively, so I took your advice and went 48.

Good choice in my opinion. If you were just going to move gravel and do some light grooming a 5' box blade would be fine but the thing about tractors and implements is that you will often use them for much more in the coming years than what you originally purchase for.

If you've never used a box blade then you're probably going too fall in love with it. It's not a D7 dozer, as mentioned above, but with enough time and patience you can make it look like a D7 did the job

I sure hope it can do what I'm wanting it to. I have never used one so I'm not exactly sure what to expect. Here is the ground I currently have to work. Not huge areas, but kind of a lot of left over thin roots from when I cleared it with a mini excavator.

The rippers are adjustable. I would start with minimal ripper ground engagement and adjust, according to your needs, from there. The area around the camper looks like a good spot to practice. Drop on the edge of the high spots and drag through toward the low spots. You'll probably find that you will constantly be working/feathering the 3 point raise/lower with your right hand while getting a sore neck from watching what's going on lol

I usually set my box blade to be slightly lower in the rear and adjust side to side angle if needed.

You'll get the hang of it. All the advice in the world doesn't add up to a few hours seat time.
