In the market for a box blade which will be attached to our Ford 860. 40HP, and the 3 point is spec'd to lift 1250 lbs. 6' wheel base, 2wd, weighs 6700 lbs with filled tires.
We're up in the Puget Sound region, with local tractor dealers few and far between. I've called around to a handful, and found these available after tax and/or freight delivery:

72" to cover the tires feels like the minimum width. 84" feels like it would be pushing it for our tractor. I'm leaning toward the ETA 78".
Any alternate suggestions in generally the $1000-$1300 (after freight/tax) price range?

From your list Woods or Land Pride get my vote. I recently bought an 84" Bush Hog and I like it.

What's the outside width of your rear tire track?? Or are you saying 67" is your width? "Wheel base" is the distance between the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle.

I use an 84" heavy hydraulic scarifier Land Pride on my Ford 3910 with 80" outside tire track width. It'll stop it dead in it's tracks if allowed to dig. Dragging it full of dirt is all the tractor can handle.

At some point, I swear I measured the outside width of the ties and decided it was 6'. I just went to check, and it's actually about 64"-65". In this case, is there any reason to exceed a 72" box?

No, and no.

I thought your width was bit much. I think your tractor weight is also high.

You could get by with the 72" EA box. But, for 50 bucks, I'd go for the 78". That'll give you 5-6" of BB width past your tires. That's very good.

If you struggle pulling it in hard conditions you just lift it slightly.

I'm not being cocky, pushy or excited...just making a list!

*Extra plate of steel welded on the front leading edge for wear resistance.
*Extra horseshoe plate of steel welded under the tube, behind the shank for extreme durability, which protects the tube from piercing.
*Stronger attachment point where the shanks are pinned on.
*More bracing between the front and rear moldboard.
*A572 steel….NO A36 steel is found in our factory.
*Solid welded hitch instead of a bolted up hitch, which would be cheaper to ship!
*Everything is laser cut and tabbed for extra strength and uniform assembly.
*Solid, continuous welds. No stitch welding, which Land Pride is notorious for!(we know LP VERY well.

You can buy a 72" King Kutter box blade from Blaine's Farm and Fleet for $629 plus $214 shipping to the Seattle area (I just guessed, and used ZIP 98115 since you referenced Puget Sound).
That is a total of $843 delivered!
I don't think you will beat that price ...ANYWHERE!
I have several King Kutter attachments (including a box blade), and they are good rugged pieces of equipment.
Everything Attachments sells King Kutter also, but I am virtually certain that Blaine's delivered KK price will be better.
Blaine's is a farm supply business with headquarters in Janesville, Wisconsin.
I have had my King Kutter implements from them shipped to an address just as distant from them as you are, but on the opposite coast.
I would think a box blade any wider than 72" would be too much for a 40HP tractor.
I have a KK 60" box blade for my 32HP Ford 1920, a 60" KK tiller (excellent machine), a 60" KK bush hog, and an 84" KK rear blade.

Is the King Kutter you referenced similar to stepping down to the 'light duty' models I'm seeing around? Like the Country Line from Tractor Supply, etc?

My primary use is to maintain 700 or so feet of gravel driveway and a decent sized parking area. I'd also like to use it to dig a bit of a ditch in our pasture to better guide water during the wet season.
If it seems like I could make it work, I might use it as a bit of a poor-mans plow/disc in our ~40x60 garden.

Everything attachments hands down!!!!!!!
They have well built implements and truly build them Heavy Duty. I have bent a King Kutter blade at LESS than the rated horsepower and I was not using it "hard" by any means. Very disappointed in most of their stuff - their "professional" line is the only thing of theirs I would personally consider.

I would suggest that the King Kutter box blade should be just fine for your described use.
King Kutter is an up grade from the TSC "County Line", made by Tarter Gate.
Everything Attachments sells the KK line of attachments also.
The Everything Attachments "Extreme" box blade is built for up to a 70HP tractor.
You have a 40HP tractor.
Unless you are trying to drag a box filled with boulders, I do not think you would derive any benefit from dragging the "Extreme" blade around. You would have a somewhat lighter wallet though!

Box Blades last years to decades. Not the place to try and save. If you can afford a box that is a bit heavier, captures both sides of the lower link pins and has a good reputation I'd go with that. This site is supported by EA and you rarely hear anything negative written about them. The extra features (wear plates, bracing etc) they add seem to make sense and add to the product.
Looks like you settled on the width- yes a few inches wider than the tires is where you typically want to be. With 2wd their is no reason to push that and go much wider.

I bought what was suppose to be a rear blade for higher hp tractor than my 68 hp and had major weld failures twice on it. While I have two box blades and use them they are not the best choice to me for digging a ditch. With box blade on the lift you only have the adjustment of the arms of the tractor for cutting and then the blade will not roll the dirt from the cutting area as will with a rear blade as it will not rotate as you see with a blade that is made to cut swells.

I would also suggest you look for used for they are out there and they are not an implment that often is worn out or rusted out. Not the best method to determine the total quality but the weight is an good indicator to give idea if a light built blade, disk or what ever you are looking at.

I have both a box blade, and a rear blade.
I would never consider using the box blade for ditches.
For ditches, a rear blade will work much better.

The King Cutter box blade DOES CAPTURE "both sides of the lower link pins", and DOES have a "good reputation".
The point about Everything Attachments selling quality equipment is certainly a valid observation.
That said: Everything Attachments SELLS KING KUTTER box blades, as well as their own!
I doubt that Everything Attachments would be selling KK attachments, if they thought the KK products were anything less than good quality.
The much lighter TSC "County Line" by Tarter Gate is something you should probably NOT consider though.
Someone here suggested that you look for a used box blade. Like me, you are in an area where you might wait for years to find a used box blade. You indicated in your post that there are no local suppliers, thus it is rather unlikely, that any box blades will ever show up on the used market in your area.

I've got a KK 5' BB. Biggest tractor it's been used on was 44HP. I had to weld the hitch assembly at all locations that are bolted together. Started getting sloppy. Otherwise it's been a good BB. I've had it ten years.
