Brake controllers for trailers

/ Brake controllers for trailers #31
I have tried straps but I now use chains. The chains store much more easily. They can just be left on the trailer in a curled up pile. The straps need to be kept out of the weather and have to be rolled up after every use. Also if there is any excess length after tying the tractor down, you have to secure it to something or it will get caught under the trailer tire and cause all kinds of entertainment. I have also tried the ratcheting type of tensioners and have not liked them. The chain twists a lot before anything gets tightened. The old chains and boomer are about the best bet in my opinion. If you kept the threads on the ratchets lubricated the chain would'nt twist. You'd probably make a good farmer, they don't like grease either. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
