That's also what an adjustable brake controller is for. Set your braking for the load. With tandem axles with brakes, when empty, you need to back off on them or you'll skid/slide your trailer tires. Going home empty the Tekonsha will just trigger the first LED out of 10. Second one in a panic stop and 3rd equals locked brakes.
