Hey it me again with a new problem or perceived problem, like i said I'm new to tractors. After i got the tractor unstuck i noticed that there was damage to the muffler tailpipe section and also that the brake linkage was binding against a small tab of the fender that extends down by the muffler. I didn't discover this until i was pushing dirt back into the hole that i was stuck in when i noticed that the brake lights would not extinguish when the pedal were released. So after bending the fender out of the way and freeing the the linkage the light was still on. I then adjusted the brake light switch which was extremely tight this solve the light problem. But it seem that the tractor doesn't have much braking action...doesn't stop when brakes are applied but will slow down. Is this normal or should it stop when you apply the brakes. this has a dry brake system.
It could be with everything happening all together that it doesn't seem normal... been a long week somebody please tell me this is normal /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Was the hole you were stuck in full of water?

Keith, the hole had some water in it but it was not over the axel or near the brake hub on the tractor. The only thing i can think of that might have effected the brakes was after i got out of the hole the parking brake was on for about 50' before i noticed it. Is there an adjustment to the brakes?

At the moment, your brakes are probably not 'dry' brakes with mud likely packed in there.
Probably best to clean the drums and pads (or rotors and pads) to get the dirt and grime and mud removed.

Just wondering about the parking brake. Does the fact that it was on when u got out of the hole mean that it was on before you fell in? Or did u use it someway while getting the tractor unstuck? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif This is not meant as an insult, but an engaged parking brake on a stuck tractor just sounds comical. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (At least to the outsider, probably not to you... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif )

Josh, i applied the parking brake after i "jumped" it out of the hole and then placed more logs behind the rear wheel to ensure i didn't roll back. Anyway after i restarted the tractor to go fwd i forgot top disengage the parking brake.
