About to buy a new sub compact tractor. Just wondering: What is your opinion of tractor manufactures prices? Which tractor manu. has highest priced; moderately priced; and least expensive prices.

Stated differently; which tractors are pricey and which are lower priced. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, Jimmypick (first post)

If you have not noticed, tractor specs vary considerably.

The best way to examine the question in most basic way is to divide tractor weights by price and examine cost per pound. Weight determines ultimate capability of tractors.

You can do this by creating a spreadsheet with headings for each tractor you are interested in.

If you are at HIGH ALTITUDE in Utah buy extra horsepower, as you lose power at altitude.

I agree, that's not really a fair category to put sub compacts in, all manufactures have upper and lower models for the most part and most are very competitive.

If you wish to narrow down the field of tractors you will need to do tons of homework, sit down and give a lot of thought to what you would value most in a tractor, what you plan to do with that tractor, look at all the rainbow and pic the "model" that best suits your needs, there is no one brand that stands out as superior for every case and budget.

Thanks Jeff and John. Very good advice. Jimmypick

Find the tractor that you think is perfect for your needs, and then go buy one in the next larger size.

All good advice above.

I started out with how much I was willing to spend (most of us have a budget) then listed the things I wanted the tractor to do then found the heaviest, highest horse powered and best optioned tractor that fit the budget. That worked for me and I have been very happy with the tractor.

Why complicate things?

Most areas you will find that LS, Kioti TYM will be the most tractor and options for your dollar and Kubota, JD being the more expensive brands.

I wish I could actually put Mahindra and Massey in one place but I have had such conflicting quotes from both and seen such price differences paid that I simply cant honestly figure out where they should be placed.

Jimmy what are your thoughts?

What do you wish a new tractor can do for you?

Why a subcompact? Is a subcompact big enough or do you need to jump up to a compact?

What's bouncing around in you head? (Tractor related lol)

Pappy, that is excellent advice. I definitely will go that way on the next tractor purchase.

LS & TYM don't really build subcompacts? Kioti's is New Holland's old one, its not cheap. The Mahindra in this size is also not a cheap tractor. In this segment, the actual invoice prices are quite close to each other, the dealer can make all the difference in the world. No way to know but to pound the pavement and visit your local dealers.

Why are the TYM T194 and the LS MT125 not subcompacts?

Try to remember I have shopped your business as well as others and am given my statement based on prices you have given to both myself and friends over the past few years as well as other dealers within driving range. Your not the highest but simply put Kubota in general has come up just a little higher than the others except for JD more often than not.

Not sure about TYM but, LS just released their first sub-compact MT125. As far as price comparison, I found LS about 20- 30 % lower in price in comparison to similar specs to other makes. As stated above, you will find that John Deere & Kubota will probably be the highest based on popularity.

I think they are both pretty new. I wanted to add that your YouTube videos are a great resource!

Thanks. Always welcome to hear feedback. I can do product walk arounds all day, but the competitive comparisions are somthing no one else is really doing. My hope was do it half way profesionally without the normal talking points, although I've thrown in some snarky humor given my obvious bias and I'm curious how its being precieved. If I ever slide into coming off as a tool i want to know.

I have found the product walk arounds and demonstrations quite helpful. I thought the BX Series Genealogy was particularly informative when I was comparing used to new. The changes made over time helped me understand what quality of life features Kubota had tried to fix with the latest models.
