Yep... that's why I said "more likely to be pure." Shouldn't matter now though with the junctions in the barn.

Back-dragging with the FEL...

The manual said not to back drag with the front edge of the bucket, to use the back edge. I'm not sure why, maybe it puts too much stress on the front of the bucket in a direction it's not meant to take it.

I made an aweful mess digging out that water tank, and had the carry all on the 3ph instead of the box blade or rear blade, so I used the back edge of the bucket to flatten out the mess. Worked pretty well. Of course the cattle will trample everything flat within a day or so anyway.

Why don't you mount the carry all on top of the boxblade and have both at your disposal? Sort of a luggage rack on top of the box blade. You could use an old chest of drawers or ATV rack or something. Since you've joined TBN, I noticed you're not as "un-handy" as you used to be. You're getting pretty good, in fact, you did a great job with those teeth and all. Of course I suspect you were always pretty handy, just trying to let us down easy.
LOL ... You change your signature to:

You're serious aren't you? Man, that involves metal. I can't do metal (yet). Actually, that's a great idea. If I could weld a frame onto the BB and then build a carry all on that... however, I do like being able to look back and see all of the BB to see what the blade is doing.

Smoke, mirrors, and photoshop. :) I'm not falsely modest, but I can usually make the best out of my screw-ups and I don't always confess to the stupid stuff I do (otherwise I'd have Bird-like post counts   ). While I seriously am not particular handy, I am stubborn and generally resourceful. We have a saying here, "Cowboys always win." We don't give up until we get whatever we set in mind to do, done.

Might have to use that one.

You could make a carry-all out of wood and drill a couple holes in the top edge of each side of the box blade and bolt a wooden carry-all on top of it to carry anything you really wanted. If you just got to have a steel one, get the exact dimensions and I will send you one but the drawback is you have to pay the shipping costs, which might be more than a bribe to a local welder might be. A carry-all from one of those "fancy em up supply stores" that sells to the p/u truck owner that never gets his truck dirty would work, and just have someone weld four uprights to your box blade, or better yet, get out all those fancy drill bits you bought and find where someone thru out a set of bedrails, and get busy. Worse you could do would be drill too many holes in the box blade and it would be too light for proper use. The proper use of a hacksaw will give your arms a good workout, so get busy!!!

Yeah, but wouldn't that kind of be a sissy carry-all. All wood? I don't think 3RRL would approve.

Like this: I have one of those. Made this out of it: but getting that thing hooked sufficiently to the BB is the fun part.

Hacksaw  no thanks man. I'm buying a tool if I'm tackling anything like that. :) Or better yet, since you all are practically daring me, I guess I'm just going to have to start reading those welding threads and pick me up a welder. :D

Not true Spiv,
Wood has many advantages when you can't do steel. For example, when I first started working in camp I did not have many tools up there. I needed a good sized open tool box to carry my chains and basic tools in.
I made this black tool/stuff box out of wood.

Later, I put my rear remote valve in it. It was easy to modify and still plenty of room for other tools and chains.

Yeah, it's definitely homemade, but like what we are talking about, having something to carry extra stuff sure beats not having it when you need it. With the size of your property, I'll bet it's quite a walk if you needed to get something?

Because my property is wilderness, I found I need to bring a variety of tools with me in case I got stuck or had to make adjustments to my side links or whatever. I found having a shovel, crow bar, farm jack and come-a-long was a good thing to have at all times just in case. So I had some furniture clamps and mounted them to the back of the ROPS. I also mounted a small steel red tool box on the other fender for wrenches and pliers and screw drivers etc. That's the other stuff you see on my rig in the first photo.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with wood as long as it's strong enough to do what you want. Might be a little hokey looking, but look what it did for Noah!

The kind of "carry-all" I had in mind was one of those flat retangular things made out of angle iron that had a square tube that went into the receiver hitch on a p/u. Most of the time they have expanded metal as a floor and people use them to carry coolers and such behind their motor homes, p/u's and SUV's. Most of the time they are 20" x 60" or thereabout. You really wouldn't need the square tube for the hitch, but it might come in handy at some point for adding something.

That is the most hideous thing I have ever seen. Rob, that should make you feel pretty good about the appearance of your wooden box!!!

I hadn't really considered the available surfaces of my tractor for "stuff attachment" purposes. And yes, when I'm on the back of my farm and need a tool or something it is a pain in the rear to have to go get it. When I was driving those T-posts I loaded up all but three bundles out of my truck up by the barn. Not sure why I didn't load them all, but I just didn't. Guess I figured I wouldn't possibly need them. So just as I'm running out of day light, I also ran out of posts, had to high tail it back to the barn, load up the last 15 posts, and high tail it back to the fence line. Driving too fast the bundles fell off the carry all several times! :) So, point well taken, cary everything you might need with you. I'll have to think on what tools I might need and build that into either my carry all or the tractor itself. The only thing I have bungee'd onto the ROPS is a 2" PVC pipe for whacking cattle. I'd like to mount a rifle sheath for ground hogs and coyotte's. I see them from time to time on my tractor, but never when I have a rifle.

So, Rob, when you are driving around with all that stuff on your tractor, do you have to keep the speed fairly moderate? I always start out in 5th or 6th, but it takes sooooo long to get to the back of the farm I usually get anxious and drop her into 7th or 8th with a good amount of rev's. Get 'er done! I'd think with that much stuff hanging on the fenders and ROPS I'd have to drive more reasonably. That stuff would be clanging and rattling like crazy! :)

You mean like this?

Sometimes it's a .22, an M1 Carbine, a shot gun or a Model 94...depends. In Quail season it's always the shot gun. Fire extinguishers on both sides too.

Yeah, I keep it pretty slow when I'm off the road so none of that stuff clanks around or falls off. Most of it is either clamped down or in the boxes. Anyway, I pretend I'm on Safari and enjoy the ride. I can also spot the snakes easier going slow. You'd be surprised at all the wildlife I see cruising like that. It's like the deer aren't worried about the tractor at all? I'm in no hurry. For sure though, you don't want to be caught off road in the dark, so I try to get back to camp or at least the road at a reasonable hour.
