Breaking into the bank

Planting in our area is always fall. As you get colder than us I would double check your nursery. Spring planting window can get narrow fast.

If you can get the plants you want at this time of year go ahead and get started. The plants would have all winter and spring to get their roots established before the the summer heat hits. As long as the ground is not frozen you could plant trees and shrubs. Rick

Frank, first off great job! I really enjoyed this thread. I do have a quick question though. Why did you put a drain at the bottom of the driveway? I too am on a slope, although not as severe as yours and just let water run out into the street. But I do live on a dead-end street with virtually no traffic except for the 4 neighbors below me. X2. If you can do it now, it would be easier on the nursery stock. And often you can get end of season deals vs the high prices in spring.

Thanks!
Well, funny story there.....the sub was pouring concrete by the bottom of the drive, when a County rep pulled up.....and said he needed to put a drain in to stop the water from flooding the road. I do live on a pretty steep slope, and I've seen the water running down pretty good......perhaps he didn't want it running into the golf course parking lot....
and there's a ditch at the bottom, so he wanted the runoff to go in there. Another pic for reference....

What brand of excavator is this? I never have seen one with a boom that can pivot sideways.
hugs, Brandi

Can't remember the brand, but several of the imports mini-ex's have the offset-able booms, great for digging along foundation walls, etc. They're pretty handy machines!

What timing! Isn't it amazing that the County rep pulled up just in time before the final pour? Wonder if he just finished a round of golf when he came over??????????? Ha!

Yea.....I'm wondering how much of a coincidence.....I'm thinking the owner of the golf course mighta made a phone call. Met him once, very nice guy.....but also very shrewd and never misses a detail.....knows everything going on up and down the street......you know.......:laughing:
