everyone always wants to stay on the good side of the salesman when buying a new tractor. something else to consider is the person servicing and prepping it also. i took a nice hat (orange county chopper) and gave to the tech and told him i appreciated his efforts on my new tractor. when i picked it up, it had been washed, waxed, thoroughly greased, paint nicks touched up, bucket hooks welded on and painted over and everything adjusted. he went over several things he felt needed special attention. i'm sure he will remember me/ my tractor if the need for warranty work arises. not bad for 8 bucks i figure. just a thought.

Smart man.

I work on people's boats. Some people treat me like a second class person and yell and scream and are jerks. While others make me cookies and offer lots of praise. Guess who gets the better service.

Right on !!
Years ago I once flipped a guy a 50 who was prepping our company van for painting. That was the best paint job he put out all month. Attitude also dictates the special deals here with tractors & equipment.

Definitly.... When I was a tech, my customers would bring me anything from liquer to cookies. They were trusting me to work on thier baby, and showing me that it was worth a little extra to them for me to do my best. It doesnt have to cost much, but it will change the general attitude. He will remember you and continue to treat you more like a friend than a customer.

GOOD MOVE: i learned that lesson many years ago. i follow that principal even today. I use a lot of boxes of differnt sizes, so i go to the local hardware store and local auto parts store and they let me scrounge tho the boxes, a few times a year i bring them pizza and chicken wings, they not only let me scrounge, but they actually save them for me. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It all goes back to the old saying "treat others the way you would like to be treated" Its good to hear stories like these!! Keep them coming!

One little question as food for thought:

If they DON'T service your vehicle well just by simply being paid for it... then doesn't that imply dishonesty?

It just kind of smacks of doing things extra for the boss man to get a raise i.e. brown-nosing. Shouldn't be needed, especially shouldn't be required and kind of... well.... wrong (from a moral standpoint)... because technically it is EXACTLY what the name of this thread is.

I actually mail it off for the yearly inspections. Never met them face to face. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Waiting on it to come back right now as a matter of fact.

Robert,
You are absolutely correctomundo on that
HOWEVER.... workers are only human, and they see it as an extra little bonus on the side, sooo... it works.
I use it all the time and have witnessed it when I worked for others.
When you do the boss, its brown nosing.
when you do a customer, its financial gain.
just my .02
