Its the same at my local Volvo / Dodge/ Caddy dealer. Both parts and service desk in the entry to the bays area?
A big city in VT was on the news last night for it's new firehouse exhaust/ventilation system....

Maybe some of you have seen the media stories about the death of the restaurant manager and hospitalization of his assistant in a NY Legal Seafoods this past Saturday.

The poor guy went to use the rest room and just like that, gone.

Restaurant Manager Dead in Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at Walt Whitman Shops - Police & Fire - Huntington, NY Patch

New York mall death: Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless killer - CNN.com

I think we all agree that CO can be a deadly, silent killer and proper safeguards need to be taken. We may not all agree on the appropriateness of injecting any measured amount of levity into discussion of the same.

So what is the take home message in this thread? What do we need to do in our own homes to protect our families? How many detectors, where to install, what type, what brand, how long do they last and need replace, etc?

Be careful and limit running any engine inside a shed, garage, carport, lean to etc

1 CO detector near the sleeping area (more is always better)

Type: depends on your $$ situation, typically the
more you spend the less false alarms you
Will get.

Brand: any major brand fits the bill look for UL
ULC CSA approved.

Last: typically 10yrs but always check
manufacturers replacement interval.

Hope this helps; only general best practice advice. Always better off following manufacturers recommendations.

Best type is hardwired to all others in a home with battery backup on it own electrical breaker. Use heat sensors in garage and attic areas and combo of CO and smoke throughout house.
Thread still going.....
