hmmm, they must be 65 gallon barrels then because when they're full of water, the CK30 struggled to lift them, I'd have to jump off, and give 50 - 100 lbs of extra lift. I was assuming the entire rig was about 1700 lbs since that's what the 3pt is rated at.
Some times you have to get old school on those really big rocks...

I could only lift one end with my 1100lb box blade on...

Well, I have 2 problems. 1, the rock is about 3 km from my house and 2, we still can't find the camera! We once lost the remote for 2 weeks when the kids dumped it in the bin with Christmas wrap which we then put back in storage, but this time with the camera is a record.

Um Ken, you might just have to chalk that camera up on the missing list, and go get another one..

It would cause more trouble than the tractor upgrade, believe me, I've suggested it.

rock sled!

problem moving large rocks that you can not really lift, is they will want to dig into the ground. and make it even harder to move them.

goto a local salvage yard / scrap yard. and see if you can get a old metal hood from a truck or like. flip the hood upside down. to have a nice smooth surface, like a snow sled, drill some holes. and toss some chains through holes and down low on the tractor and away you go. the front edge of hood normally have some curve. and helps keep the hood from digging in while dragging.

flip/roll rock over on to sled. hook sled back up to tractor and away you go.

side note, pending on old metal truck hood, you may need to tack weld some re-enforcement onto the hood. to keep from pulling chains off / through the metal.

==================
you could always use a masonry drill bit, and a few wedges, and a hammer. to split the rock in half / smaller size chunks.

You Greek and Roman guys are all the same, just break out the log rollers whenever you want to move something!
Nice idea and nice job on the boulder. Nice pond too!

Just what size rock are you trying to lift?

A tractor should be able to lift what you can fit in the bucket.

DK's are nice strong machines. CK's are manure movers/mowers like a Kubota L3400.

Do you have your relief valve bumped up a bit? The specs on L39 and DKSE loaders seem to be identical. I guess the rocks look bigger when you pick them up!

From the pics posted so far, I'd say you'd be able to pick up that rock if you tried with pallet forks or a grapple from the side instead of from the end. It's just too long and sticks out to far to use the bucket.

I'm guessing IndyIan's rock maybe a bit too heavy. Pretty easy to calculate a rough weight with dimensions.
