Just what size rock are you trying to lift?

OK, never mind, I'm giving it another try, it must have been pushing up on something, because it's nowhere near as big as those ones. Wish I had a grapple!

Those are pretty big rocks. Maybe more than the tractor is able to handle?

Nah! The rear gets a bit light but I control that with excellent sphincter tone technique. I also don't lift higher than what you see and don't move that size rock more than 50 yards or so just to get them to the side of a field.

Well, I'm not sure if the FEL is up to it or not, but the rock won when the tires lifted 2 feet off the ground! I may try again if I get around to putting my Zamboni attachment back on the box blade which holds 110 gallons of water.

Is the rock on the ground or in the ground? If it is in the ground do you actually know how big it is? The big boulder in my grapple was just a nubbin sticking above ground and hitting my mower so I decided to pull it out not understanding the ultimate size. I could not have lifted it without the backhoe as ballast. Most of the other rocks I pick up though just have a mower as ballast.

No, it's out of the ground and it's bigger than I first thought. I still don't think it's as big as one of the ones in your picture, the large flat one. I was moving it a little, I think 500 lbs more ballast and I would have lifted it.

Yes, sounds like a ballast issue but don't forget it is also sometimes necessary to skid big rocks on something like an old car hood.

Hmmm, at 8 lbs to the gallon for water, that is 880 lbs extra on the back. That may work.

hmmm, they must be 65 gallon barrels then because when they're full of water, the CK30 struggled to lift them, I'd have to jump off, and give 50 - 100 lbs of extra lift. I was assuming the entire rig was about 1700 lbs since that's what the 3pt is rated at.
