The disassembly, prep and welding took about 3 hours this evening. (2) of the hydraulic hoses were cut when the bracket came loose so PT is 2nd day airing (??) the hoses and a steel plate to reinforce the bottom as part of the warranty.

I intend on drilling some holes in the plate and then plug welding to the old broken area and then welding the perimeter.

Then it's time to break something else I guess?

I recommend something less dramatic. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like your fix, this and the added plate should hold up very well.

<font color="red"> DITTO!! Sure beats sending it back to Tazewell!!

PS: /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I hate warranties! I recently bought a wall clock for $3.84. The lifetime warranty said that if it ever fails just ship it back to them and include $5.00 for S&H!!

PPS: /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I really hate warranties! I bought a used car from a guy. He offered me a lifetime warranty. If it ever fails he said, just call him, and he'll come over and kill me!!

Ba dump bump! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Nice repair, Scarg. Now you have a welder for the cost of shipping. Better deal for you. Wish they would have picked up the welding at a local shop, though. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

looking at the pic of the cylinder where it goes inside some sort of boxedin enclosure , i wonder if this will be a problem when traversing uneven ground ,ie like a pinch point that could also be a problem and i also wonder why they went to the extra trouble to do that .

IMHO (well maybe not honest...) It appears that it was a cost cutting move (certainly not a change for a more robust piece of equipment) and that in order to use the one cylinder the position of the front bracket had to be moved to a stronger location. If you look closely at the fake floor on the new 422 and then at the standard 425 you can see why the fake floor was installed. I always thought that the floor was a bit high and this explains why.

However - I can't imagine that by the time they modified the frame and added the additional parts that they could have save much money /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Maybe they passed enough savings on to me that i was able to purchase my welder for free??

I think that a small 115vac welder should be shipped with each unit from now on. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I was in Tazewell I know I saw the two sterring cylinders on the larger PTs but never made note that the 1 cylinder models were mounted differently... After seeing these pictures I am amazed how different the two setups are! Not only is 1 cylinder doing the work of two but bringing the "push point" in so much closer to the center must mean a lot less leverage as well. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
