Broken loader pins

/ Broken loader pins #21
I had one break on my BX25D at 4hrs old . It was the left side that attaches the bucket to the arm . Wasn't doing anything that shouldn't have been doing. The pin has a groove for grease in the middle of the and ?that's where it broke. I was surprised to see that the pins are made of cast steel. I run a machine shop and do see a lot of bad cast steel so I believe it was probably a batch of bad pins floating around out there . What I did to replace it was used a piece of drill rod that I had and turned a similar groove in it and drilled it for the retaining bolt . Made an extra too just in case . Told the dealer about and he offered to fix it , but told no thanks , I got it . He also said he had never seen one break but did agree it could be bad casting.
