Looks like you have to keep your right hand on the directional/speed control lever at all times and steer with your left hand at all times. Could become tiring after a while.

for 20K, i would say, remote control unit. remove ya from the machine to standing around watching it, with a remote control in hand. good chance remote control unit has tracks, vs tires. so you gain some traction / flotation.

as soon as you put a human on unit. everything changes to accommodate the operator.

as soon as you attach controls to unit to "walk behind" the unit. you are at the mercy of the machine, and how much you really want to walk. along with slip and sliding under machine on hills and in wet spots.

===============
some of the SKID STEERS, might be an option. more so the smaller units. everything fits out on front. and can turn on a dime.

================
with MossRoad posting. you can see a "power trac" unit. were all attachments fit out on the front. much like a skid steer.

attachments fitting out on front, i only bring up, due to being able to accurately see what you are mowing easier, and any tall weeds get taken down first, so you are not covered with all the dust, pollen, water, mist, etc... from mowing down taller weeds.

===============

2 wheel walk behind units, you can get sickle mower heads vs rotary mower decks for them. that more likely be in 40" range.

you might be able to connect "sulky"? i hope i got term right, a little dolly per say you latch on behind 2 wheel tractor, and you stand on it, and 2 wheel tractor pulls you around on the dolly errr sulky. and do what ever you have attached to the front end of unit.

================
atv and/or UTV pull behind mowers, they generally have there own "motor" on them. you can get either finishing mower or a rotary mower setups. many of them allow for "off set" and being able to swing them all the way out to one side.

there are various "lifts" that can be added between atv/utv and what ever you have on behind. to help adjust height and lift stuff up off the ground. to deal with hills, ditches, bushes, etc...

=================
with others 40" trails, on 50 acres. to much micro managing, time to start opening up the trails and like to wider paths, and using larger tractor and wider tractor to get stuff done.

My lawn tractor has a hand operated HST control but it stays in position so you can take your hand off it unless you're changing speed or direction. It's still inferior to a foot operated HST. Having to hold it in place would really be irritating.

For about the same $$ he could get a used small tractor and a small brush hog. Something like the Kubota B7100HST and 42" brush hog (and box blade) that I sold a few months back.

I will be interested in hearing a first hand review of this machine after he rents it.

Would have been nice if they put a suspension seat on it, looks like it will be a rough ride.

I'm happy to see that someone is making a rough cut rider. I had to tame the wooded edges of my 1/2 mile driveway. Chainsaw took care of anything over 1". Then I had at it with a 15hp MTD lawn tractor. Beat it like a rented mule. It did the job, but would high center on occasion and sometimes lack traction. I started to make a "lift kit", but the motor gave up (it was 20 years old).

My plan was to do a 3" lift and use swinging blades on the mower.

I wonder what the cutting heights of the Brush Rover are? It would be better if the hydro had food controls ...

A BCS or Grillo 2 wheel tractor with a rotary cutter and a 32 inch flail mower
would be a better as you can use a BCS sulky to ride behind either of them.

Orecs walk behind tracked flail mower would be even better to buy as its a
german import with easy to use controls but the BCS and a flail mower will
cost you less money and you can have a sulky.

A gear driven 2 wheel tractor will cost less than either of these orec units and you can
use it the year round for mowing with a flail mower and sickle mower and for snow removal
with a snow blower.

For $12,200 he could get a PowerTrac PT425 with a 48" brush cutter and go nuts!
Then use the rest of his $20K budget to get a whole bunch of other attachments.

T8 Class

FWIW, to me the Orek demo vid did nothing but convince me the machine is a viable solution to the OP's needs. Having to keep a hand on a lever is a ridiculously poorly thought out concept. And the ride looks rough to say the least. They even tell the potential users IF they get stuck, here's free wheel mode to 'push' oneself out of the 'bog'.
It's an amateurish version 1.0 of what PowerTrac has down in spades already.
I've got no skin in this game, though I do own and maintain 25 acres of mixed woods, brush, steep hills, 2 ponds, etc.
I wouldn't even waste my time with a demo ride based on what I saw in the vid.
I have a Dr.Field and Brush mower, (a ATM 2 model) and have had one for many, many years. These days I hardly use it anymore, it's just too hard work and kills my back wrestling with it.
And I have a Husky 322T Ride on articulating mower for 2 seasons now, and it's great but still NOT suited to what it sounds like the OP needs.
I have never used a PowerTrac, but it sure looks and seems well thought out and is clearly not a mini-go cart mower as the Orek claims to be.

I'd keep searching, and or consider what's already been suggested: widen the trails, make for some tractor/ hog use areas and mower use areas and divide the labor between properly suited machines and budget. JMHO.
