Guys, my uncle gave me this brush cutter and I wanted to find the manual online. It says on the side that its a John deere LX5... So I get to the John deere web sight and none of them look like mine. I researched for days but can't find one like mine. I will post a picture and maybe someone will know what's up. All the ones online are rounded at the end and mine is not at all. There's also a different setup with the tail wheel.

There's a manual online here. OMW51358: LX4, LX5 and LX6 Rotary Cutters table of contents

Maybe your cutter isn't really a JD LX5. Someone could have bought the JD decals and pasted them on. Or it could be an older model.

Did you look for a plate on the cutter with the model number and serial number? That might tell you something. A JD dealer could probably order the right manual for you with that information.

Maybe, I will look for the serial number or anything that might help when I get home. I'm currently deployed to Southwest Asia until 5 Feb... But if anyone can ID it before then I would appreciate it.

See if theres "red paint" under that green paint. That could be a "doctored up" International(World Agritech Corp) or a Bushhog brand bushhog. Just a thought. ;)

Would not go by the color. I've owned 2 over the years and it looks exactly like our King Kutter.Hope this helps.

I will sure try that too... When I got the mower, it was attached to a a 1973 Kubota B7000E. I used that mower a ton on that little tractor . Then i was wondering if the unit was 4' or 5' implement. To me it look small on that Kubota L3240 tractor I have. It on currently...

Dang Boone, I think you are right, and thanks for the welcome. The funny thing is, my next door neighbor works for John deere and he's been begging me to buy new blades from him. Maybe I need to let him find out, lol.

I'll bet he is. I just bought new blades, nuts, bolts, and a brush jumper for my BEFCO cutter from my JD Dealer. It cost me $500! Each bolt was $75! I probably could have gotten the parts directly from BEFCO cheaper. However, like you I couldn't find any documentation for my 20+ year old cutter and the dealer was able to sort that out for me.

That's ridiculous!!! Why would a bolt cost that much. I have a hardware manufacturer close by. I take bolts there all the time. They will match anything with low cost. No more than ten dollars... Just remember to tell them what it's for....

I'm not exactly sure why it cost so much. It is a very large bolt (1" diameter and 3" long with a 1 5/8" nut) and it's specially made for the brush cutter. It has a specific flange and shoulder to mate with the blades and the blade carrier. The bolt also includes a pin that you have to hammer into the side of the bolt that fits into a keyway to keep the bolt from rotating. It might have also cost more because my brush cutter is so old and that bolt isn't used on the newer models.
