New Holland 1510
I'm looking for a brush hog for my 1510 New Holland tractor. I've seen them at Tractor Supply Store and was wondering if they would work for what I need. I have 3 acres of field grass that gets 2 feet high. Thanks in advance.

Generally and roughly speaking, you need 5hp at the PTO for every foot of blade length.

Again generalizing, light duty bush hogs are fine for cutting grass and light weeds.

Hope that wasn't too general to be helpful.

I've got 28 HP at the pto and have no problems pulling my 6' light duty TSC brush hog through 2 or more feet of grass, so you should be fine with a 5' cutter. As long as your grass isn't too thick, you might be able to handle the 6' model, but with only 3 acres I doubt it's worth taking a chance on overloading your machine.
another option would be a 7' sickle bar.

I'd go with a light/meduim duty 5' cuter for tht machine... then choose a sutable gear for safe manuvering that also didn't load the engine up to much.

Yeah. It's when you hit stumps, rocks, concrete blocks and trees that you need more than a light duty mower. :(

Lower gear will get you through the higher stuff.
