Brush Hogging Rates ..

How much Hp is your tractor and what kind of bushhogs do you have? If you don't mind telling.

I have a MF285 that is 85hp and i use a BH2615 batwing and i have a MF2670 thats 90hp and a Bush-Whacker T180 batwing. Those are my bigger rigs and i have a few small tractors with mowers also.

This question is aimed at those doing bush hog work.

How do you or did you go about getting your work?

Is it word of mouth, advertising - if so where and what kind, signage of some sort, solicit - and if so who and how?

It's something I'd seriously like to take a look into, just be nice to have a better idea or game plan to try and get it off the ground with the least amount of errors and blunders.

Alot is word of mouth. I have a sign in a few places and alot of times i just pull and talk to someone if i see a area that needs mowing.

For those doing this kind of work, what kind of insurance are you carrying?

Is it a commercial policy of some sort or something else?

The best thing is talk to ur agent and see what they offer. I have a large ranch and most of my equipment is covered under that but they added a clause to cover the equipment when im not on my property, I do custome baling also so I needed this mainly for my hay equipment. As far as transporting it is covered on my auto insurance. Hope this helps.

PS if u decide to do this go ahead and get the max coverage u can get, its not that much more and ull be glad u had it incase if something happens. My runs about 2k a year but that's with all 6 tractors and all hay equipment.

How does your 85-90hp handle the BH 2615 when cutting real thick or tall 4 foot weeds? I have a 120 hp JD and a 10 ft hog, at times its all it can handle.:laughing:
