What is the best product to spray on brush along a fence row.
Small oaks (3/4 in) and other misc weeds and brush.

Roundup or equivalent glysophate substance (lately I've been using Gly-4 PLUS cause it costs a third of roundup's price). Dicamba (Banvil (spelling?)) is also very good on woody plants.

With the roundup or gly-4, I add about a tablespoon of ammonium sulfate per gallon of mixure, really helps knock it down. Might work in the dicamba too, I've not read the label lately.

Be careful with dicamba, it will move in the soil to other plants which have roots in the area.

Well, Roundup kills everything green, so you will have a black patch, which will always regrow in weeds over & over....

I prefer the Banvel (dicamba) or 2,4D type of approach - they do not kill the grasses, so perhaps the grasses will choke out the braodleaves and you will have less problems down the road. They have some residual effect in the soil to prevent more broadleaves germinating for up to a month.

So, depends what effect you are after.

If you want something that works wonders go with a product called crossbow. It will kill broadleaf woody plants. Works wonders on multiflora rose. I mix 3 oz per gallon of water. I also add about 16 ozs of diesel or keroseen per gallon to get the product to stick (and not bead off) the leaves. You can purchase it for around 45.00-50-00 per gallon at any pesticide or herbicide dealers where the local farmers get their stuff. Good luck. alot of woody plants will be setback by glyphosephate (round-up) but return the following year. If you want me to read the label for oaks I can check when I get home but I know it will kill them not sure on how many ozs per gallon it takes. Glenn
