Mowing Brush mower maintenance

No, I have not. I usually order a couple filter, some mower blades, some bruch hog blades and half a dozen of those bushings every couple years. However, I have considered looking for another source for parts. Mine are silver in color. I haven't checked as to what metal they are made of.

Thanks! I guess I just bite the bullet and stock up on hydraulic filters and such... I slung a blade Saturday, only to find that I still have extra bolts and washers, but no bushings.

Dear KentT,

I just bought a set of new blades, bolts and bushings for my 1445. All have changed designs since I last ordered them. The blades are sharpened on the outer half, the bushings now have an oil groove on the inside and the bolts have more of a shoulder. To my eye, it looks like the alloy on the bushing is different, but obviously I don't know for sure.

All the best,

Peter

Thanks Peter. I just bought a new set of blades last fall which were sharpened only on the outer portion, but I didn't notice any difference in the bolts or bushings. I think I'll order another pair - since one set of mine is beat up beyond repair - along with more bolts and bushings.

About $70 plus or minus, as I recall from last fall. I didn't even ask today... Doh!

So like $12 a blade? or 70 per blade with fitting?

Also, you guys mentioned new bolts, can someone take a picture ofwhat they are providing now?

I chucked my third blade yesterday, grumble. Found it, and found the bushing is elongating so I have some design work to do on my end.

Oh, this last blade order, the guy who made my blade convinced me to make them out of normal steel, not hardened like I had the last time. big friggin mistake, these things bend like soft butter.

The 48-inch only uses two blades on a single stump-jumper. So, that price was for a pair...

I ordered a couple bolts, just to see what they're offering now, in addition to stocking up on bushings again...

Yes, the blades were ~$70/pair, bushings, about $6/ea.
The bolts are 'normal' 5/8 bolts with a shoulder. I wish the shoulder were 1/8" taller to keep it out of the bushing.

All the best,

Peter
