Bucket Driveway Edger Attachment

I've been thinking that for the first trip down the driveway, string could be stretched and lines sprayed with paint to keep things straight. With the lines as a guide you would get a better job. Just a thought.

Or use a laser and put a target over the blade:laughing:

This is not just for edging driveways. You can also use it to install underground dog fences. That's next on my list of to do projects, and I've been trying to think of an easy way to dig a 2" trench to bury the wire. Just found it!

What about using a disc from a garden or field disc? Just use one of them?

A plow coulter would be an ideal starting point. The are made to cut sod and swivel also so curves would be easy to make. This plow is for a garden tractor and is lightly built of course but clearly illustrates the coulter setup. The coulters on full sized plows are considerably heavier and would make a good starting point if one were inclined to make such an edger.

Several years ago I replaced one front wheel with a straight coulter blade with a matching bolt hole pattern. This was on a little Case 446 (16 HP)
It certainly penetrated well but a bit difficult to steer.
I would think that a depth limiting band attached to one or both sides of the blade would maintain a set depth and make for easier steering.
Would this be a viable commercial product? Probably not but sure fun to experiment with.
I need to find the picture that would be worth a thousand words.

This is a great idea-I would think that a lot of us TBN'rs will be interested.

Thanks for sharing.

Great idea. Do you have any pics of how your driveway looks after you have used it?

Downforce is needed to get the blade down through the rock base.
