I have a Kubota lx 2601 su with 14 hours and was wandering if it's normal for front loader to drop or forks to drop over 5 or 6 hours with a load or no load still drops has done it since new

NEVER leave a load suspended unattended.

NEVER leave the bucket or forks suspended unattended.

When we bought our JD 6200, I was sure that we would own a machine where hydraulic stuff stayed up, JD identified for many decades for their quality hydraulics.. Well it didn't, and neither does my older Kubota Wheel loader. The 3ph does stay in place on the JD.

It makes me curious. Does anyone have a newish loader that stays perfectly in place?

Yes, when they are resting on the ground.

All hydraulic system leaks, some microscopic that leaks slowly over time, some significant that it’s a safety / operation issue.

Good quality loaders used to stay up. What's changed? Is it the cylinders or the valve?

Good question, but did they really ever stay up? The bucket on my JD 870, now over 20 years old, crept down a couple of inches over a few hours when it was new. I never noticed the loader arms did, and still haven't.

I think they did. Construction equipment of the 70s seemed to be able to keep it up.

The answer is valves. Most valve manufacturer will list their internal leakage as part of the spec sheet. Some are definitely better than others.

My previous Kubota L3410 would slowly dump over a period of hours. Under warranty, the mechanic that looked at it quoted a Kubota leak down spec and said it was well within spec.
I haven't checked my current L4060, but whatever it may leak down doesn't affect my loader use.

I do ground the bucket and implements when not in use.
