Bucket lights?

Thanks for all the posts! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't always have my ROPS up though, due to the trees around the edge of my field. I also wonder about the glare and bugs associated with them mounted there.

The primary after dark use will be bushogging.

thanks again,
Dave

Dave I don't know of anything that you might do to discourage the bugs from your lights, even our headlights alone attract bugs without the canopy lights being on. Maybe you could hang a bug zapper from your ROPS between your lights? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I tried YELLOW automotive fog lamps for the first set lights I mounted to my ROPS, and they seemed to attract LESS bugs than the lights I have up there now. But they did not eliminate the bug issue. The only reason I switched from yellow to white light was because I do finish mowing at night sometimes and the yellow light did not provide enough contrast against the grass for me to see well enough. I also went from 35 watt lights to 55 watt lights when I converted. I suppose I could have tried a 55 watt yellow light, but when I bought the new lights the store didn't have 55 watt yellow in stock.

As for glare, I don't have any problems with that as long as I don't turn around!

I also have 2 lights facing the rear for snowblowing mounted on the ROPS and 1 rear aux light at the base of the ROPS. Depending on snow conditions I either use the top lights or the bottom light.

Bob,
Where did you get your water proof switches?
I tried to find them and every marine place I contacted wanted $65 or $70 + shipping for a set of 3 switches. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I tried auto parts stores locally and they only have interior switches, nothing for outside/weather resistant use. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Thank you for your help.

Yup, Don, that is the place.

I think several others on TBN have also used Go2Marine for switches.

If you want a clean looking install, they also sell a modular mounting bezel for the switches. Actually they sell 3 different ones depending on your mounting needs. One version is a simple single bezel for mounting one switch. If you plan to mount 2 switches, you need to order end unit bezels and snap them together. If you plan to mount 3 or more switches, you need 2 end units and at least 1 middle bezel unit.

When I did my install, I originally bought 2 end units and installed only 2 switches. About 6 months later I added a 12-volt outlet, and I wanted it connected to a switch, so I ordered another switch, a middle bezel unit, and popped out the old set up, un-snapped them, clicked in the middle unit, enlarged the mounting hole in the fender, and popped the 3 switch set up into place. Even the dealer was impressed with the factory look. I was just glad it was easy because I have a tendancy to mess up projects that only require duct tape to fix /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Don & Bob,
Thank You Both.
You have cut my cost by almost 50%.

TSC sells a sealed toggle switch for about $7.50. Not as nice looking as the rockers though...

willy; My lights are installed for winter/snow removal. Beleive or not, bugs really don't bother me then! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

As far as glare, I tried them last night, and I do get a little off my glasses, but not enough to bother me much. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
