I have a 4690 backhoe on my Kubota with a 16" bucket. With the bucket I have you can not dig a hole with straight sides. The teeth on the bucket can't be put in the 90 degree position to shape verticle sides on a hole. Are there different kinds of buckets or can I put a different set of teeth on my bucket so I can do this?

From the lack of response to my question I am thinking that I did not explain my problem in enough detail for anyone to understand. Sorry. Lets try again.
If I am digging a trench and I extend my boom reach to the end of its travel or any other distance for that matter and then curl the bucket to full open and dig down, I can't make the wall at the end of the trench verticle. This is because the teeth on my bucket are not in line with the back edge of the bucket. They are angled in toward the operator. No matter what you do you can't make the far end of that trench wall verticle because of this. You always end up with a slopeing wall at the far end when you dig. In order to make the verticle cut the teeth on the bucket would have to be in the same plane as the back edge of the bucket pointing straight down and not angled in towards the operator. Is there another type of bucket made for my Kubota 4690 that has the teeth in the configuration needed to make that verticle cut?

first off what is the trench for? cement, utility wires pipe? why is it important that the hole wall doesn't slope, are you digging graves?

b/h buckets usually have two sets of holes, one setting allows you to get your results but when fully curled, slopes down, or when completed the run go around and set up on the other side and square the sides

I can't really help you, but I'm sure that you can get another bucket that will do what you want. Buckets are biiiiiiiig money though. Maybe post a picture or two with the boom extended and whatnot. Lots easier to see what your talking about with a side shot. ;)

Good luck

Could it be that you are trying to dig the trench from the side instead of straddling it?
Either way it can be done, if you have enough reach, just takes practice moving the bucket in two directions at once.....
