Makin the bigger tires fit on the front is as easy as a sawzall and sledge hammer. And a little rubbing is ok... if its smooth surface and not sharp edge. Cut and beat any interfering materials away and get matching tires on there... nice work. I'm sure the sons that lost interests in helping with the build are equally uninterested in driving now that its complete! *grin*

Sorry to hear about the restrictive gun laws... makes me thankful for my freedoms here to be armed as I choose. I'm not an 'in you face, way-out-there' type person, but do own rifles and pistols proudly. Carry a pistol most every place I can do so as laws allow, but you wouldn't know it if you met me on the street.

Our stupid laws say we can not carry anything to protect yourself. If a woman has to walk home late in a bad area all she is aloud to use to protect herself is stern words and run fast. Not legal to buy pepper spray, telescopic batten, carry a knife etc, we are aloud to protect ourselves just not carry anything to help do it?????. If you carried anything that could be used as a weapon and used it in a self defense situation the police would arrest you for a premeditated attack because you carried a weapon ready to attack someone. You then spend all the money you have on legal costs to defend your actions in court to justify your actions as self defense. You may get off the charge but legal fees to do it will take everything you have.

It makes you think our laws have been made up by the criminals. The police tells us if we get mugged/robbed/held up to just give the criminal what ever they want so we don't risk getting hurt. The crim knows we have nothing to defend with so he is safe and he knows we are to just give in and give what every he wants. Free range for a crim to do what ever he wants. The police are not allowed to pursue at crim in a vehicle if it goes over the speed limit. They are to let it go in case the excessive speed of a pursuit was to cause an accident, and gee we don't want to hurt the poor crim do we. If a cop uses a taser on someone there is an automatic internal police investigation to make sure it's use was warranted, heaven forbid the cop should remove their pistol from it's holster, that becomes a big deal. If the cop actually uses their pistol and pulls the trigger than all **** breaks loose on the poor cop. Police here in Australia get little to no respect from criminals because the crims know the cops have restrictive rules also. You can, in most cases, verbally abuse a cop and get away with it now, we have even seen where people are spitting on cops and getting away with it. Or they get arrested for it but the court/judge lets them off. I can't see your cops over there putting up with that.
Apparently if a crim breaks into your house and cuts himself on the window he has just broken to enter your house illegally he can sue you because he cut himself, or if you confront him and fight with him and hurt him he can sue you. WTF Great system we have here. Don't let Obama adopt any of our stupid laws.
It all certainly makes you scratch your head sometimes.

Reminds me of the phrase... if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns!

Leaves no room for a law abiding citizen to protect themselves at the same level as the outlaw.

Shot 3 racoons in the yard yesterday... out here in the country, half a dozen shots rung out and not soul cared... 'sept the 3 dead coons! Tired of them tearin out the trash and stealin cat food. Thats 6 in the past 2 weeks.

I`m wondering how you use 4x4 with big tires only on the rear? Its been 44 years but I still remember the hospitality of Aussie people when I visited as a service man, thanks!

I am really sorry to hear about the "state" of your gun laws there. It is even worse than I thought.. If you ever get over this way, come by Branson, Missouri, and we will go burn some powder and fling some lead. You can shoot the "assault rifle" too.:) 40 round mag and all.:D Now as for the .22 rimfire.. well that ammo is so hard to get now, we would have to think about that some.

JOHN40981:

Sorry to hear that, but would like to copy your post and put it onto my facebook account of how well Australia's Gun/Criminal laws works. (I will not use your name and will only paraphrase your words if that is OK>?

I have a bunch of anti-gun nuts on my page (I like to post pics and fun posts just to irk them :D

Thanks for the offer, would love to take you up on it too, if we ever got to your side of the world. Are you allowed to have full auto or just semi over there. Before the Port Arthur massacre in April 1996 our gun laws were very different and I did have a .223 semi-auto assault rifle. Made in Australia believe it or not. Called a AAA (Australian Automatic Arms) SAR model. The Government (and general public) reaction to this 1996 shooting was swift and strict on our gun laws. It is true we have not had any sizable massacre here since 1996 but that's the same for New Zealand and they have much less restrictive gun laws there. The statistics show our gun crime was already on the decline prior to 1996 so don't believe anyone saying it was these gun laws that has saved lives. We still have lots of gun crime, every night on the news there are shootings in Australia but mainly between crims over drugs, so the criminals are shooting each other so no one cares much. But it is showing that the crims are the ones still with guns and use them on other people. So taking guns of us didn't change that.
I have read many post about your .22 ammo shortage problem funny thing is we don't have a shortage of .22 here. Shame I can't send over some for you. I have just purchased another 5000 rounds last week. No shortage or price increase of any brands here. I wonder why we can get it if you cant, just more stupidity with anything to do with guns these days.:confused3:

John

Semi auto is common and can be bought about anywhere without much more than an instant background check. Handguns have a waiting period but long guns can be bought on the spot here in Ohio & about 40 other states in USA. We can also buy full auto guns but required a license/permit and be registered with the ATF. Which only puts individuals under more scrutiny, full auto is way over rated as ammo wasting & shot wasting. Even holding a grouping of accuracy quickly firing a semi auto can be trying. Full Auto any more than 3 rounds is a waste & was proven way back in WWII in hand held weapons. Which is why the AR15/M16 was originally built with select fire of 3 round burst.

There are a couple states with very strict gun laws, (ones with all the crime as a matter of fact.) With the above fact US is in top 3 of homicides but mostly due to a few cities, Chicago, Washington DC, LA and NYC if we remove those statistics I think USA falls to 30 something for homicides. The stats are also NOT in favor of the ANTI GUN crowd when you look at the # of gun deaths, many are "self inflicted." The Anti Gun people make use of the self inflicted suicides and claim them as "Gun Deaths" as if it was a 2 person crime.
