As far as reusing the Hemi name. Your right, the new hemi doesn't live up to the original, its better. I've had mine on the dyno and it made 370 hp at the rear wheels, that's with a tuner and exhaust. That's as much or more than an original hemi, but with a 345 cubic inch displacement. I get better mileage and the car rides better and handles better and gets 25 mpg.

As far as appearance, I agree, the Challenger holds the most true to the original, but I'm a little biased. I've always liked the Mustang also and it would be my second choice.

As a Ford Guy the Challenger hit the nail on the head. The Charger is an insult to the name plate. The 08 Roush Mustang my Co pilot had was wicked fast and would handle and stop just as nicely. The Camero never did a thing for me and both times I have had them as rental cars I was unimpressed. The visibility was awful and so was the ride and overall balance and handling but they were fast.

Yes, I understand that. But my point was the 426 was a special limited edition butt kicker. The current generation Hemi, while a good motor with performance capability, is a standard production motor, like the LA-360 before it.

I guess the only really "special" motor Mopar has is still the V10.

On-topic, I remember seeing Buick GN's when I was driving my late('74) Roadrunner in the 80's :D

Nothing wrong with a performance sedan!

I agree. My BMW 338 I will do zero to 60 in 4 seconds and run the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds. I love blowing doors of so called muscle cars at the stop lights with the baby seat in the back.

They also dropped the GN turbo V6 in a S10 Pickup and a S10 Blazer. I think they were called the Cyclone and the Typhoon.
