We re-built a big rumbler years ago at work, it was HEAVY, body made from 3/8 plate I'm guessing and it ran on rollers that supported the outside diameter, belt drive from a centre shaft to electric motor. It was slightly bigger than a 44 gal drum lying on its side on the rollers
Had a trap door in the centre and you could rotate it until the open door was pointing down and all the parts and rocks would come pouring out. We ran blue rocks as well as abrasive rocks in it.
Depends what finish you want but this thing was pretty aggressive, the edges of the little 3/8 clevis parts would get slightly burred over but they were super clean, totally removed black scale and smooth finish that resisted weld spatter sticking to it.
It was a lot of shovel work to re-load the abrasive media every time but did a great job - pretty noisy but not too bad because of the thickness of the barrel.
