Building a front end loader

   / Building a front end loader #11
Do not put a loader on that mower you will regret it they are not built anywhere near heavy enough for the task. If you want a smaller tractor to run a loader on go find a H3 140 or any of the old 300 Series preferably one with power steering. One of my projects is to build a loader for my 78 John Deere 312 or find a reasonably prices 318, 420, or 430 for a TLB (Tractor-Loader-Backhoe) build but so far it looks like I'm building a loader for my 312 at this point.

I picked up a john deere 420 tonight for $1000. It's a 1984 fixer upper, needs paint and some work. I am totally looking foward to restoring this tractor and building a loader. It came with a 60" deck so I plan on using it to mow with too. Am loving how the 420 has power steering, diff lock, hi/low and is already set up for front/rear hydraulics.
