I have a Landpride 35 series rear blade. They sell a rake accessory that uses the main frame, but I want to build one. All I need to build is the rake bar itself. My tractor is a 70 horse, so it needs to be fairly stout. I’ve researched many different builds and can’t decide how to attach the tines. One hole or two? And what method. I love the Everything Attachment design, but that’s impossible with my tools. An alternative is to drill two holes in a bar, and bolt them. But that way seems the least flex, and may result in more tine breakage. Another way is the clever design I’m plagiarizing where no holes are drilled as shown in the photo. But I wonder if that technique will hold tines in alignment with heavy use. So what do you guys think? One hole, two holes or no holes? IMG_0634.JPG this is my frame
IMG_0721.JPGthis is a great design but impossible with my tools
IMG_0726.JPG this is very clever no hole design from a previous thread

IMG_0732.JPGand this is two drilled holes method.

I’m leaning towards the one hole tine, but wanted your opinions.

I think the first step would be to get the tines.

I have a one bolt design, and was lucky enough to find it used for less than the parts would have cost,,,

I have pulled it behind 16, 41 and 50 HP tractors,,,
only the 16HP tractor can not over power it,,,

I do not think you can build a 70 HP ready landscape rake,,,

Whatever you build,, do not forget the gauge wheels!!

Thanks. I also found a Leinbach used 7 footer today for less than 50 tines would cost. It’s got a few bent ones but probably worth the price. It’s built with the same no hole design I pictured.

Do you think my 70 horse will trash a rake? I plan to use it on food plot soil, not gravel roads. Are gauge wheels helpful when raking a field test has been disked?

It is - E A S Y - to hang a root with one tine,, even at 40 HP the tines will bend,, I operate the rake at an idle,,

Gauge wheels go a long way towards saving the rake,, especially when operating around roots,,,
