Hi All, good winter rain here has got the new pond water level to about 1/2 way....great news from the 1st pond shown above with water spout...caught our 1st 3 rainbow trout yesterday - took 2 and threw 1 back. ate them last night - lovely, no mud flavour.
Boy these rainbows grow quickly!!! we put them in last November - little fingerlings were 2" long and hardly heavy enough weigh, the 3 we caught were all over 1/2 kg and just over a foot long!!! cheers OzG

Hi OzG,

Welcome from QLD. Great to watch your project. Keep it coming. We are changing our farm from Red Claw to Hydroponics and Native Fish. 7 ponds and 5 dams. Ponds are 25 x 50 meters @ 1.5 - 1.8 deep. Man that is a lot of work for your tractor! Great Job....Love the Pix. Mate what do you feed them and what about aeration?

Cheers Zac

Hi Zac, thats a big dam & pond outfit to be running!!!!, my idea is to grow out fingerlings in Aquaponics system then transfer them down to the ponds. my aeration is by blasting sprays of water into the pond. i've got a good bore that allows me to pump 7,500 lts of 16 degree water per hour in anytime over summer. winter wind is sufficient over the ponds. this has been a trail year for me - put in 250 fingerlings in November - everyone told me they wouldn't last over summer - they did & grew maddly. i have been using Skrettings fish pellets. i grind up the pellets for the fish when small (first 4 mths) then use courser plates and by 6 month use whole pellts. the size operation u look like running would pay u the buy starter pellets & move up - skrettings have been wonderful to deal with. keep in touch Zac - & remember my climate is a lot cooler than urs. cheers OzG.

Great news mates! Any new pictures? I love hearing from our down under mates. We have a drought so bad, it litteraly sucked up a tropical storm and spit it out. No rain in sight for next week either. Glad you have some.
