Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

The bathroom drains and plumbing came out well too.... Now we will have to wait till concrete cures before building Garage. I plan on starting the building around the 23rd or so.........All in All a real good 3 days of work by everyone...

Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

Hey Scotty,
On this parcel of land which is 15 acres thats one of the highest locations, plus I raised it another 12 - 15 inches with fill, plus additional 4" concrete slab. Remember I'm in Florida and we tend to be about sea level everywhere except few areas in Central Florida ( Howey in the Hills ) hint, get the name of town. However this track of land lays out this way, all four corners of property are high and everything slopes down into the middle which is where two ponds and canals connecting them are located. This garage will be in the NW corner and located within 120' of Road & Electric. Thanks for your concern, it was my too...

Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

Hey Carlgas,
I wished I could have done all this in one day, THE PICTURES WERE POSTED IN ONE DAY ONLY..... Three months of planning & finding the right price and size garage, two months playing with the county on getting proper permits , and at the end learning I can get an AGI-EXEMPT and not have to pay for permits for building. One month lining everybody up for fill, concrete, & concrete workers..... But now I can sit back & relax cause it takes about 14 to 28 days for concrete to cure.
I love it when a well thought out plan comes together, don't you............?

I love it when someone posts a nice set of photos on a new project. Thanks for taking the time, and I look forward to seeing more in a few weeks as the structure goes up.

Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

Here's what my garage/shop slab looks like (24'x42', 6" thick, #4 rebar grid 24" x 24", 12' walls, two 10'x10' rollup doors, one window, one 36" mandoor, steel frame, siding and roof). The Building Dept makes us use 5/8" anchor bolts cast in the concrete. I assume that you'll drill the slab and install expansion bolts to hold the structure to the slab.

Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

Hey Big_R_JR_3, Is there any steel besides the edges? Is that the type of concrete that has fibers in it? My brother built a 40 by 60 metal building and used the fiber type concrete but also used rebar. Just curious.

Re: Building Garage 30\'x40\'x15\'

Cliff Johns--- thanks for your kind words, stay tuned for additional photos & progress....

Flusher---- we used monolithic concrete footing (2500 psi) reinforced with 2-#5's rebar continuous. The slab is 4" thick & the footers are 12"deep x 12" wide continuous.........we will install 1/2" x 8" expansion anchor through base rail within 6" of each bow..... Base rail will be 2.5 x 2.5 x 12 Gauge continuous........

Humbleto---No other steel in concrete, or edge & no mircofiber...
