Really we need to get a locaton of this project and see if we can do a modern barn raisnig...Everyone near him show up with toys and tote up the hill. That or rent a pump and pump it up the hill less than a pumper truck.

In my area they may tell the building inspector I have no permit?

In my experience, a concrete contractor that you hire to do the whole job might ask about permits, but a redi-mix company wouldn't be interested.

HOWEVER, as has been noted here before, building without the appropriate permits can give you big problems down the road if you try to sell the property. I wouldn't worry so much about adding on to an existing structure, but adding a completely new structure gets risky.

Suggest talking with the concrete supplier to find easy, cheap solution.
Might be to have concrete truck at bottom of hill fill up the front bucket of the tractor with 3/4 yd and then drive the tractor with concrete up the hill.
For a 20 yd pour, you would make 28 trips or so and then wash the front bucket out real good.
(Would probably wash and wax it real good before also.)
Have someone else there to pull the mud where needed and some finishers to help.

If I recall from my days as a construction inspector, concrete weighs approximately 150 pounds per cubic foot. 2/3 of a yard = 18 cubic feet, 18 x 150 = 2700 pounds. That has to be one h-e-double hockey sticks of a tractor/loader.

I'd also be worried about stability if I had to move that much weight up any grade. Real easy to tip.

Second the concrete floor option is best. 3 point mixer is great, but still loads of work. Concrete paver bricks (don't use lightweight patio blocks, won't take load of tractors, etc) are hard work, require a good stone base, costs more than poured concrete, but you can take your time. You might find seconds at your supplier to lower costs.
Good luck. Send pics as you proceed!

Moisture. A good concrete floor in an enclosed building will keep moisture from forming on your stuff.

Not according to that guy on here a few months back talking about it raining on his stuff in his garage!!

Hey imagine my surprise, I thought the thread had probably come to a end, but I stop by and still more great suggestions.

Taking it all in, much appreciated.

I like the idea of the barn raising. I phoned a out of town cement guy asked him a few questions, was very friendly, he said nobody in a cement truck is going to ask about a permit, I also asked if he had a smaller truck, he said no. Also he said I should use a guy a little closer to me, he offered a name in my town, a name I was very familiar with who`s wife works in the township clerks office.

I am 50 now and have no plans of ever moving ,Grace of God! So am not worried about selling problem related to permit or lack there of.

The garage pack I am probably buying is 33 hundred, for 24x24, that includes everything from shingles to trusses to even nails, window door and double garage door, everything but what it sits on and outer siding.

But am still looking at alternatives. Going to use a lumber yard in the next town from me, actually as luck would have it they have the best prices in a large area. I am going to pick up everything in multiple trips in my 4x4 pickup, and will just arrange for the trusses to be delivered.

Last year this same truck would not even attempt my hill, so will be interesting, mind you I am having some good pit run brought in, so we shall see if he can get up, otherwise I may try towing up one at a time dragging one end of the truss??

Thanks again ALL :)
