Building Lake Corona

So far so good. Just walked back to take a look. Made 1" marks on the pole so I can keep track. I've lost 1/4" in 24 hours. I built the bottom of the pond about 4 feet higher than the rock shelf I hit so the back side of the dam is much lower than the front side. No water on the back side at the moment.

Great drone videos, JK 96. Good job on the "Lake Corona" project. I just have my 5 acres here, but we enjoy it a lot. I am usually too busy working as a substitute teacher in our local high school (supplements my pension so I can buy important stuff like tractors), but that is out for now, so we are out most every day re-opening walking paths through our woods. Amazing how quickly that brush takes over.

Thanks. I agree on the brush. We have some pretty wicked timber here in places. I've done a lot of clearing the last year getting it to the point where it's easier to walk. I've been especially focused on getting rid of all of the honey locust along the field edges.

This morning the water is down about 1/2" total over 36+ hours. You can see the one inch mark under the water surface in the below pic. I expected more just from the soil taking in water and getting saturated so I think I'm good as far as being able to seal the pond well with the dirt we have. My next step will be clearing all of the brush and timber that will be inside the final water line then removing top soil. The 2nd picture is looking north from the dam. This is the area I think I'm going to pull dirt from for building up the dam. There is more than enough here for what I need and will also increase the size of the main pond area.

Yeah, if you can, pull dirt from the pool area.

It looks like there is about 15 acres that drains into the pond area which usually means it would support a 1 acre pond. This one should be about 1.5 acres when finished.
