I have looked at the TB that JohnF_ASI built and going to use his idea.

Question is would 1/4" x 3" x 72" bar be heavy enough for use in the Bucket to weld Bar Stock to , or should I use 3/8" x 3" x 72" .

72" wide HD bucket on a TC55 , which from what I have been reading and from looking at the Specs that is a Strong Loader.

Thanks

I would not use anything less than 3/8" x 3". In fact I would probably go up to 1/2" x 3". You want strength here without any twisting or bending. Thicker steel is the way to go.

Less than 3/8" x 3" is increasing the risk of big warp when you weld the teeth on..
Going 1/2" might start to introduce the necessity to pre-heat before welding.

If your fit up tolerances are pretty tight, the 'pinching' effect of the teeth will help in minimising twist.

I'm pleased that you liked the design enough to use it..

I suggest 1/2" stock, particularily with that 72" bucket.
I used 1/2 on my 48" and would have preferred 3/8 but for sure on a 72" use the 1/2 stock.
