The dealership caught on fire and fell on the truck I guess.

Love it. My college roommate who is a die hard GM guy rolled a 2001 F250 when it was brand new on black ice. They rolled it back on its wheels, reset the fuel pump, topped off the fluids and drove it home. It was totaled the next day by the insurance company. It looked bad but not that bad.

Driving over the rubble was cool and all, but seeing the back end was just freaky. The whole passengers side bed was gone, tailgate hanging by a cable.

No marketing in the world is as good as that video.

They should have made a commercial out of that.
I have bought several totaled vehicles and lots of heavy equipment that I drove off the trailer after very little work.

Best sales tool I ever saw at a dealer was an actual cross section of a Ford, Chevy, Dodge frame. It was a no brainer once you saw the amount of steel in their solid boxed steel frame compared to the sheet steel formed to look like a frame in the other two.

That would make a good commercial.. I laughed at it, but it does have an effect.. The truck DID drive out of the rubble.

It's nothing but sheet metal damage. Even if the frame was bent some any truck would still drive. Sorry but unimpressed.

Not impressed either.

If you ever see the English TV show Top Gear, in the background there is a battered Toyota on a sloping stand. In one of their shows they tried to destroy it. Crashed it, left it buries in the sand while the tide came in and out. and a few other. In the end they hoisted it up to the top of a 10 or 12 story building which was being demolished. After the building had been blown up underneath it they moved some bricks and concrete of it, put fuel in and drove it away. It looked pretty sick but it still drove away under its own power.

I had to re-read the title to the thread. At first I thought that was the way they came from the factory, which is actually a slight improvement.;)

Not a hater, just not impressed. Sheet metal damage won't cause a truck not to run. Now if they would have driven it out of a 20' deep pond, that would have been impressive.

I just assumed that Ford made trucks like everyone else, with a frame. But if you guys are telling me that the sheet metal cab and bed is integrated into the drive train then I'll have to take a second look.

I agree that sheet metal damage will not keep them from running. There are a lot of electronics that could have been damaged to keep it from running. Did anyone notice how low it sets in the front. The truck is a 4WD and sets lower than a 2WD.
