Is there any merit in getting a PM from the moderator when they elect to delete a post to educate and clarify the rules....or is there enough deletions to make that unrealistic....Just wondering ?????

I believe it is common to be given a PM as to why a post of yours was deleted.

Are you sure a post of yours has been removed, or is it possible you can't locate it?

tc35dforme -

I see no evidence of any of your posts being deleted, at least not in recent history.

We do try to send a PM when such things occur, although there are circumstances that sometimes make that difficult. For example, any replies to a deleted post also get removed -- it's just the way the database works. If there are many replies, it's not easy to contact everyone involved, so it's usually the actual offender that gets the message. It's also possible that that particular member has PM's turned off. In rare cases, a repeat offender may not be notified if they seem to be ignoring their "education". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Chris, I don't see any indication that any of your posts have been bumped. I suppose there could have been a computer glitch somewhere, but is there a chance that you didn't get it entered? I know I always leave the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" checked. And I know that I have sometimes clicked on the "Continue" button, but then forgot to click on "Post this message" after reading the preview and naturally the message didn't get posted. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Of course you may be smarter'n me and never do something like that. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Harv it wasn't about any of my post specifically, just something that crawled into my head. I was remembering a while back that there was quite a bit of discussion about dumped posts. I was just more curious than concerned and was wondering if the moderators were active in notifying authors of deleted posts.

No worries...just trying to be more smatta !!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thanks....

Thanks for going to the trouble to check.

I've figured it out. The poster posted two identical messages in different subs.. I replied to one, and then saw the 'same' messgae in another sub later in the day. My feeble mental abilities didn't alert me to the fact I was in a different sub...

NAAaaa I think it's pretty unanimous... " You da man! "

Well, in that case, I hope I answered your question. We do try to send PM's, and almost always do. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As the "newbie" moderator on the block, trust me when I say that the moderators ARE active - very active! A whole lot more than I ever realized!

Hmmmmm.........not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

And as Harv said, we usually do send PM's.
