If a LEO comes by to check, just tell them that the rig is a home made outdoor grill or "pig cooker". Just a thought. BTW, I like the idea of using the lawn mower body to make the unit mobile.
I like it! I just wonder if one "good" fire might melt the plastic wheels. Could be wrong though. Looks like its been on that mower body for years. I might be the first use of a rolling mower deck, sans motor, that I can actually see my self using. Haha
Sorry for the delay. The wheels hold up. Cancer usually kills them first. This is his 2nd one in 7 years. I was visiting him this weekend. As a 3rd generation pyromaniac my dad sure makes me proud.
That is one of the best redneck inventions I've ever seen! May I suggest an addition? Drill a hole near the bottom and mount a metal funnel so you can pour your waste oil in to stoke the fire
Those wheels should not melt cause the heat rises and with some ash in the bottom it acts as an insulator. I used to use a 55 gal barrel on pressure treated wood and the wood lasted until the barrel rusted out. I also had drain holes in the bottom to slow rusting.
Your father is a true American. This would be Ideal for my monthly trip to the mail box. Left at the end of my drive I am sure it would be a conversation piece.
On the topic of using mower decks. When my oldest sister who is (40) now was born. My dad told me he took an old push mower and mounted a chair to it and a belt and made a stroller for her.
