Burnouts Ruining Tires

Probably not a typical thread title in a tractor forum and I can't say that I've ever seen a tractor do a "burnout". With today's high horsepower vehicles, I see a lot of videos where guys lock the brakes and do extended burnouts until the vehicle is no longer visible in all the smoke.
My question is what are they trying to prove. I understand that it takes torque to break the tires loose and power to keep them "burning" and I can understand also the need to exhibit this power but why burn up the tires with extended burnout? I admit the fun of "peeling out" as a kid but a short squawk was the maximum my '54 chevy 3-speed was even capable of.

Another popular gig nowadays is "drifting" and I'll admit to doing this on a gravel road as a teenager and its a wonder I never rolled a vehicle. Doing it on pavement, however, appears to be a whole new ballgame to me at least and I've seen organized races where they are constantly "drifting". The cars could get around the track much faster driving straight so what is the point other than entertainment?

Not a big drifting fan but I grew up roasting the tires... I previously owned 4 Camaros and a Corvette. (All LS1 powered) Man it was fun! Could be at any random stop light or while running in the Woodward dream cruise.

It was an adrenaline fix for me, nothing like putting it in 2nd gear and bouncing off the rev limiter until the tires finally got traction. Driving has always been something I looked at as fun. (I refuse to own anything that isn't fun to drive, I ain't dead yet)

Just watched a program on (streaming somewhere) where this English guy was into setting speed records in many different categories of things. He teamed up with JCB and they built one of JCB's Fastrack tractors. 130 something MPH Guinness record.

Some intersections repeatedly hit which keeps the painting crews busy repainting crosswalks.

I been caught in the middle a few times and the best you can hope is not to tick anyone off or your vehicle will get hammered.

A lot of people with too much time and money looking for a distraction...

The smoke can be seen from quite a distance and even some fire calls because it lingers.

My best guess is sending smoke signals is this is our turf and with huge takeover crowds police go the other way unless it's a task force with also large numbers with tow trucks in the wings but some tow companies have been targeted so not cut and dry.

We simply did not have this kind of horsepower in this many stock vehicles even just a few years ago. Kids driving 500-600 HP cars? I would have had a ball back in the day if there was money to buy more tires.
