I just picked up an old Bush Hog 305 that needs some deck replacement. It appears that the gearbox is supported by the heavy metal structure above the deck, so that is a real good thing, but the deck below the gearbox is rusty and needs replaced. I was looking at the parts diagram and need to know what the buck plate assembly is at the deck where the gearbox shaft goes through the deck. What is it's function? It appears to be a larger bolt of some sort, but I can't figure out what it does. Just trying to see what I will be getting into replacing this portion of metal. The heavy duty structure above the deck is great, but looks like it also led to the bad rust because it traps grass and water if left outside. If it wasn't for this structure though, it wouldn't be worth replacing the deck. Anybody who is familar with this, please chime in. Thanks
