Bush Hog roto tiller shaft repair/replace?

I broke my roto tiller this spring and need to get it fixed. The shaft that holds the tines broke in half. Looks like a new one is $1200. My questions are:

• Someone told me I could take it off and get it welded back together. To me it seems like it wouldn't hold.
• Does anyone know where I might find a used one?

A good welder should be able to weld it back as strong as it was. Probably need to ask around locally to find a good welder.

My dealer recommended the shop they send their welding work to, and they did some amazing things for pretty reasonable prices when I bought an excavator that was far more abused than it appeared just used.

Any place that does drive shafts would probably work. They can even balance it.

Might be better to just make a new one. I don't see any pictures so it's hard to tell. Is this the garden type tiller or 3PH tiller? How wide? How is it driven?
