Bush Hog vs Woods vs.....?

I used a 6' Rhino TW72 heavy duty cutter for about 15 yrs and literally beat the crap out of it. I couldn't tear it up no matter how hard I tried. I sold my larger tractor, NH TN75, and the Rhino went with it. Darn fine piece of equipment in my mind.

Just to give an idea of inflation, I bought it around 20 yrs ago for $1500.

The pricing that I listed before was from our local Rhino dealer. However, by "dealer" I mean that they can order a unit but do not stock them and push Bush Hog and Woods over anything else. I do like what I saw on Rhino's site, so I'll have to see if he can get me a price on a unit.

I also would suggest a 6' unit...but if you go to 7' (or larger), you'd be making a mistake to get one without twin tail wheels...keeps the unit well balanced and since you are'nt gonna cut down the woods, give a very good even cut. As previously noted, as far as cost, I've had mine (an IMC, which isn't made any more) since '03 and paid right at $1400 for it...not sure how you determine HD, but it weighs over 1K lbs. I can vouch for the quality and durability of both the Woods BBX72 and Bush Hog 3008 cutters.

My next rotary cutter WILL BE a Woods BB720X, I haven't seen anything in it's price class that's built as well, with as good of a reputation for lasting!

I like the BB720X but it's probably way more than I need for my application. I like how much more heavy duty it looks over the BB72X

I’ve got a Woods BB720x that I run on my JD4066R. It’s my 3rd rotary type mower...the other 2 being 60” JD machines. I’ve got to say, the Woods takes it to another level. The BB720x is big and heavy, but does a great job, and by all accounts will outlive me. I wouldn’t want anything bigger unless I had a much bigger tractor.
