LAND PRIDE!!! No Contest here! Talk about "over-built" equipment! :p

Troy

I would have to go with the Landpride too! I had a 4 ft model 15-48 Landpride bush hog for several years with a JD 750 and it performed very well. I did have to re-weld the yoke frame that holds the tailwheel, but I think it was broken (and welded) when I bought it (used). I eventually broke the second weld and so I finally went and ordered a new spindle with yoke for $65 and replaced it altogether. Never had a problem with the deck or gearbox though.

I think if you could see a new LP and a new KK mower side by side, the differences in welds, fit, and finish would really be obvious. One other point, I was looking for a used 5 ft bush hog myself earlier this year and I happened to check out a used 5ft KK for $450. It was actually fairly new with not too many hours on it, but it was the noisiest mower I've every heard in my life!!

There isn't a TSC within 100 miles of here that stocks enough KK parts to fill a shopping cart. And few of the stores have staff that is competent enough to order parts correctly when asked.

So, your recommendation would be LandPride?;)

I don't recall saying anything about parts stocked at TSC, but the ones here have blades and blade bolts, tailwheels, and PTO shaft parts available on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, plus they are open for special order parts anytime the store is open. Most tractor dealers close their doors by 5:30 pm on weekdays and are not open on Saturday afternoon or Sunday for any orders, competent or not.

I re-read my post. I'm not sure why you think I misquoted you. I referred to TSC's in my area, not Texas.
TSC in this area is not viewed as a viable source for anything that has a probable need for parts support. They could be across the street and open 24/7 and if they don't have what I need it doesn't matter. All of which is irrelevant because the OP asked nothing about TSC, just KK and Landpride brands.

you won't have to worry if the store is open or not with landpride, cause it's not going to break down anyway's. besides if you're bush hog breaks down, it's not like you have hay down with rain coming soon and you're baler breaks down!

Thanks for all the replies gents.. Didn't mean to start a p!ssin contest. I choose the Landpride. Why? Because comparing the two side-by-side it appeared to me to be better built. And came with a gear box rated 10hp higher.
Thanks again
John

I know this thread is over 30 days old but I am bored and wide awake due to medication for my back problem.

I don't know about your area, but here in central Missouri the Land Pride is over twice the price as a KK. I have been shopping for a brush mower for a month. Used ones are over priced for rusting hulks. The new KK 5' mower sells for $650 at Charlies Farm and Home. The Land Pride is twice that and a Brush Hog light to medium duty model is $985.

If you get a Land Pride for the same price as a KK either the Land Pride is stolen or they are raping people on the KK. I hope by now you have jumped all over the LP and are happily mowing brush like crazy.
