I have a 5' KK bush hog and it has the swivel/floating top link bracket and Iwas wondering exactly how its suppose to go. Mine has a stop welded onto it that looks like it just preventing what the link is supposed to do. I have seen some swivel links that dont have the stop. I'm in the middle of norrowing the lower link pins on the mower to fit my new 3pt quik hitch and need to narrow the top link to and want to know if I can just cut off the stop block?

Yeah, you should be ok cutting off the stop. I am assuming it was welded on by a prior owner? The top link should be set up loose so the cutter will tilt down and stay level to the ground, even when the tractor crests a hill.

I've seen some that do have a tab on them from the manufacturer.

If the stop only prevents too much travel, maybe it should stay. A picture would be real helpful.

Example: If the stop prevent the link from coming completely horizontal and then getting sort-of stuck there, or going from hanging low to forced high, or staying high, but then swinging horizontal and then down, I would think you want it to stay. We had one that did just this on our KK cutter, and when it broke off, we had all kinds of problems. Pictures???
