Re: Bushy\'s 110

Are you guys talking about a york rake? Sounds like the same thing to me. I had a guy who does work for me use one on his Kubota to make lawn. The 3 ph type. Those are impresive implements. In fact he was across the road using it today. I checked on the front hydraulics for a snow thrower. According to the JD dealer the only one that will work is made by Erskine. The front hydraulics on the 110 is limited as compared to a skid steer. I'm going to postponed the snow thrower this year. I'm getting a 7' light duty for snow. My Dealer wants $900.00. I can get one at a JD dealer an hour away for $650.00. That's quite a difference in price. This makes me uncomfortable for his $4700.00 quote on the snow trower. I have to study the situation a little more before I make the move. JOE GIVES THE BUCK A GOOD HOME.

Rat,Bushy,& Joe
Rat good to see you are still here and that you haven't dug yourself a hole sooo deep you can't get out!!Hope the 48 is runnin' well.Anyway,I have always had the pro style rake with the dual rollers,I purchased a new bottom roller with the carbide tips on it and it is 10 times better than the standard bar roller,as I have said before if your bars are worn out ,call glenmac, ask for Mark Brunell,he will sell you the roller for your rake with the carbide tips.I also added the side plates to my rake and I'm not sure how I used it without them, they are well worth the doe and glenmac will also make them for your rake, hope this clears things up.

Bushy-I had the priveledge of talking to one of the engineers who helped design the 110 in March at the Con-Expo in Las Vegas, thats why I have some more knowledge than has been available in literature, the dealers and from the JD web site.As far as I know the 110 has 12GPM to the front aux. hydraulics,a six foot harley rake NEEDS AT LEAST 11GPM to turn the hyd. motor.I have operated both style rakes, while I was waiting for my 110 I used a Cat skid steer with a Harley rake and it runs totally different than a three point hitch one,but not different in a bad way, just different.I personally prefer the three point hitch one like I have, but I have been interested in the GPM requirements of a rockhound, because after windrowing the rocks with the Harley rake you could come along with the Rockhound on the front and pick them all up with little effort.Overall the harley rake does more and does a better job than a Rockhound alone could do,try to find people in your area who operate one or the other and get their opinion,or you could always rent either attachment and try it out for yourself, hope this helps.

Joe -A Harley rake is a million times better than a York rake could ever be.The Harley rake is generally referred to as a power rake or power box rake, when used on a compact tractor it is hooked on to the three point hitch, and has rollers that churn the dirt, soil, process, sod (you get the point) and are powered by a driveshaft that is connected to the PTO of the tractor, the rake churns the soil while removing rocks and windrowing them adnit leaves behind a perfect prepared areac for seeding.

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Hi Tags, thanks for the response. With the carbide teeth on the bottom roller, are there any issues with top roller? From the info I have from Glenmac/Harley, the carbide roller looks incredible. I could use it right now on a bunch of things. Until folks see one of these rakes in action, its hard to imagine just how impressive they are. Do you think your getting a good life out of your carbide? I will check on the bottom carbide tooth roller for the Pro 8 we have. I'm sure you mentioned this to me before and I misunderstood, thanks, Rat...

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Hey Rat, I have used the rake quite a bit this year since putting on the new roller and I really don't see much wear at all. When I installed it I adjusted the top roller so it just barely missed the carbide tips and it seems to still have the same clearance it had when I adjusted it originally, and this is after I have prepped several lawns and 4 or 5 hardpacked driveways. From what the guys at Glenmac told me the carbide roller does a better all around job than the bars but they said the only real downfall to the teeth is that it will let larger stones pass between the rollers because the teeth stand a bit higher than the bars, but I haven't really noticed it.The phone number for Glenmac is 800-437-9779 and ask for Mark, good luck!

Re: Bushy\'s 110

I want the carbide roller, it logically makes a ton of sense. The Pro 8 is back up in Redding, about 3 hours north of here. If you bought a new rake would you rather have a 6' or 8'? I will check into the carbide roller soon. Rat...

Re: Bushy\'s 110

I picked up my 7' bucket today. I also inquired about a snow blower. Seems like the 110 hydraulics are at 12.2 gals.
It's tough to find a snowblower that will work on the 110 other than the Erskine. They did mentioned that they put a Harley rake on a 110 front . They are a big J D and Kubota dealer in Fairfield ,Maine . Many times the size of my dealer. They told me they have sold 8 110's so far. They have 6 on their lot and 4 more on order. This place is a compact tractor paradise. Everthing is brand new. Huge showroom. The John Deere people were up there last week looking over some of the sold units. Most likely the same people Tags talked to.

<<<<<<<JoeReal>>>>>>>>>>>

How did they say the Harley rake worked on the front of the 110? Did it handle it ok, or was it just right or lacking? How big was the rake? How much does a Harley rake cost? I take it that the hydraulic on the front loader is what powered it. Tell me more, Tell me more, make it up if you gotta. Just kidding just the facts. Bushy

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Glenmacs website could use some organization. The Box Rake takes a little searching to find. The Pro rakes are easy to find. Check for the rake with the tungsten carbide teeth on the bottom roller. Better yet, call them and they will send you a brochure and perhaps a video. Once I saw the video (around 1992) I was hooked. Rat...
